HOW TO HYDRO DIP WITH SPRAY PAINT!
Here's A little video I decided to throw together.
I recently learned how to Hydro Dip in a cheap but Very Good way!
If you're searching up "How To Hydro Dip" then you probably already know and have seen the way I'm going to show you.
There are plenty of videos out there on this trick.
So this will just be another one.
Hopefully this will help you out a little bit if you are trying to hydro dip/water transfer something!
You'll Only Need 3 Things To Get Started.
1. Oil Based Spray Paint (Enamel)
2. A 5 Gallon Bucket Or A Tubbaware Bin.
3. And Some warm or cold water!
I like to use a tubbaware bin bc it is a little bigger.
And you can get them in different sizes.
There's bigger ones out there, than the one I'm using.
Maybe I'll upgrade a little and get a bigger one!
Then I could do frames, car rims and other larger objects!
I had a guy on facebook like and comment on a picture I posted of something I dipped. He wanted to know how I done it.
I felt like making this How To after that!
I'm going to continue to paint some more stuff.
I'm in to the whole painting thing!
It's Art, And what's there not to Love about Art? lol
If I make any progression with it, I'll make more videos on my painting!

A tip from my experience working in an automotive shop and using rustoleum on a lot of different projects is; use warm water but probably not steaming as the vapors would carry away the activators which keep the paint workable- and also keep the CAN warm with some water. Keeping the can warm helps prevent clogs, spray finer with more consistency, mixes better within the can, and you allow the propellants to expand well and consistently. going from warm-> warm but now hot has always given me best results with these paints thus far which would also leave me under the assumption that once you prep your item and clean appropriately for painting there is likely a benefit in having that object warm as well. In my mind maintaining a consistency in temps with almost any chemical is always going to yield the most consistent and smooth experience and finish. My coworkers used to give me a lot of shit for taking a long time on certain projects until they realized my curiosity and wanting to optimize things was yielding some great results- I implore you all to stay curious and keep striving to DIY and DIB (Do It Better) you get out what you put in!

Searched many videos on how to do this and yours is the first one to explain the use of hot or cold water, the angle of the item Going into the water and even the use of hittng the side to change the shape to something other Than swirls. Others use a metal clothes hanger to stir it though. I appreciate the video.

THANK YOU for giving us the info of what exact paint to use. I have seen so many of these type videos and they might tell you what type of primer/sealant to use but nothing specific about what TYPE of spray paint or other to use. So THANK YOU for giving specifics so we actually can try this at home!

You can also use water based spray paint as well but you will need a lot of it. I learnt this by testing out hydrodipping for the first time and I used water based spray paint and it worked

You should try moving the spray paint can as you are painting the water so it comes out as a big swirl be fore you mix it

So can you do this with other types of paint? You know for more control over the end image. Or is spray paint really the only option

Yes. The more official way is to get cans of paint, not spray cans though. And you'll need a dropper to suck the paint into and drop it in the water!

I thought this would be a good way to put a custom paint job on the foam generator that I make but I need a faster turn around time for the paint process.
