How's is going? I am a hydraulic hose fitting and hose and valves expert. I worked for a cmpany in Mobile Alabama for 11 years. I can actually identify fittings over the phone with a few simple measurements. I am.looking to get into the KZfaq thing. Just thought I would say hi!

Hi great tutorial video . Should you lubricant the female hose tail threads and its seat on the fittings. Im currently working in hydraulics and get mixed answers on this . Thanks in advance
@Hydraulic.Online
@Hydraulic.Online Жыл бұрын
I do not think it matters as far as the actual connection is concerned. Lubricant is recommended for most Airconditioning fittings as it alows for better seating. From my experience appling clean lubricant on the threads and seats will give you better seating with the added benefit of protecting the threads from corrosion in agressive wet or marine environments and also in long term applications. Lubricant on the treads in high vibration applications may be a issue and cause some thread types to loosen. for example in hammer rock breaker applications BSP and code 61 or 62 Flange fittings seem to hold on better than JIC fittings.

So can you tell me the exact steps to take to identify what ends go on a hose? Like if someone comes in with the length of hose they want what are the steps you need to do to know what ends to use? If they don't bring the old hose in for reference. I'm assuming its easier if the customer brings in the old hose with the ends already on it then you just need to build a new hose based on the old one with all new ends.
@Hydraulic.Online
@Hydraulic.Online Жыл бұрын
You will need the original hose and the ends to be able to identify what type of hose, how long to make it and what type of hose fittings to to use. Without a sample hose and fittings, it will be very difficult to know what to make. If you know the machine type and the function you could take an educated guess based on past experience .... but then again who wants to guess fittings and hose length. You may be better off trying to contact the manufacturer as they should have all those items documented, but it does not mean that they will tell you.

Would you know anything about a JIC type fitting with metric threads? It seems Isuzu is using that on NPR type trucks for all their hydraulic lines and hoses. Seem to be JIC 37° spec but tubing is 8 and 10mm and threads are metric. Doesn’t appear to be 30° komatsu type either. Nobody could tell me what this is and there seem to be no adapters. Does that at all sound familiar or could this be an Isuzu proprietary system? Also, could these odd metric ends on the hydraulic hoses be reused with no ferrules? Thanks!
@Hydraulic.Online
@Hydraulic.Online Жыл бұрын
Fanzidel You are right they are a Metric thread. And probably a Japanese Isuzu and or Hino proprietary thread. If it is a hose that has failed we carefully cut the old shells of and remove the old hose then "silver solder" part of the original fitting with the metric thread onto a standard hydraulic adaptor or hose tail. On Steel Tubing, companies like "Stauff" have a range of metric compression fittings that adapt to JIC, or BSP threads and also to other metric tubing.

Hello and thanks for the explanations. I wonder, what the best thread/ fitting type in terms of sealing a connection for good, without tapes or sealing mass. JIC seems to be better than BSP? NPT is a good idea, but I am not really convinced.
@Hydraulic.Online
@Hydraulic.Online 2 жыл бұрын
Hello Heinz JIC and its complimentary UNO port thread is good in most applications. If however the application involves vibration or high pressure pulses then BSP seems to hold on better for longer. Metric is also another good option but with its many sizes as well as two pressure (or Light and Heavy duty) options it can get overly complicated.

Try Searching for Plumbing or Pipe Line Suppliers. Also Some Manufactures use a bolt on flanges with BSP treads for the Suction Side of the Pump. Sorry I do not have a way to send you any pictures.

Is it easy to find a system consisting of only bsp threads and bsp fittings? Very often its pain in the ass to see that one side of bsp other is metric or jic. I ask to designers, is therea reason for that?
@Hydraulic.Online
@Hydraulic.Online Жыл бұрын
Yok Yok there is no real reason why threads in a hydraulic system are not standardised. Generally it is the Cylinder, Valve, Motor and Pump manufacturers that decide what threads to use in the products they make. During WW II the American Army and Navy did just that and created the AN - JIC / UNO Standard thread connection system. The AN - JIC/UNO system is still widely used in Australia and America. BSP is a British Thread and as the British did colonise many places around the word they took their thread standard with them as well . But as Global sourcing of Products Grow variations of threads will continue to grow as will the range of "Adaptors" available to connect different parts together.

You might want to check on the angle of the hose comming out of the fitting, it might be getting over bent or squashed when at certain angles or it could be excessive heat build up from too much of a restriction from high oil flow through too small a hose. Or it could be just an old hose or the wrong type of hose. You might also want to check on the fittings you are using if the shell (ferrule) is longer than the tail this coulbe be causing internal damage when crimping.

Got a Sany from China - what sort of connections should I expect to find on those hydraulics?
@Hydraulic.Online
@Hydraulic.Online 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Ping not really sure about what type of connections a Sany might use if they also sell them in the USA they may have JIC fittings, alternatively they might have a derivative of the ORFS fittings (flat sealing faces with an O ring but with a metric thread) and actually called a Chinese flat face. Or they may have European metric fittings.
