There is a list sent out by the government that allows cars newer than 25 years that are allowed for import. However, they couldn't have been sold here domestically (for example, a Nissan Skyline Crossover, they're a real car and are cool as haha). Guessing the 22B's were sold domestically here so you're right guess it'll be a year or two

The import agent sorts all the licencing and paperwork out for you. The $2k is just a buffer in case shipping, compliance, FOB etc are higher than originally estimated.

I'm not sure about the import broker part sorry, but if you go to google and type in 'Australia SEVS' and click on the website that says 'Ruling No' it'll show you all the cars you can import. But I think they're changing the rules soon

Save your pennies is my advice, you need at least 13k to import anything, plus you'll have outgoing costs so make sure you have a steady income. When you're at maybe 16 or 17 I'd recommend emailing an import broker, they can advise you better

which country do you live in? If you live in the usa, go to google and type in 'japanese car import broker usa' and see what you find. Or go on some forums, just read a few comments and you'll get a good idea of who to contact

G'day Bobby, I don't know anyone sorry. I reckon the Japan side of things would be trickier, lots of small things to think about such as getting someone to take photos of the car before it goes through auction, transporting it from auction to port, clearing it all with customs. I don't know heaps about it all, I do know it's $1100 for a broker and they'll sort everything out for you. Hope this helps :)

Asbestos and regassing is done by the authorities and we don't have much to do with it as far as I'm aware I reckon the compliance workshop stick a trade plate on the car and drive it back. Or it's towed/put on a truck

You probably wouldn't be able to import it. There's a certain list of cars that eligible for import, this is to prevent the domestic market in Aus getting flooded with imports

I think you can organise the whole process yourself, but it'd involve a lot. Contacting the shipping company, auction house, customs in Japan and your home country, probably know Japanese I dunno. For $1000 that's all taken care of by the import broker, pretty good price in my opinion

Containers weren't really a viable option when I made this video (middle of COVID, too expensive I think). But you're right containers would be a bit cheaper Shipping might be 8k but it'd be the compliance and stamp duty that would be crappy

Yep pretty much :( luckily the market in Australia has kind of adjusted for this (except overpriced like Supras and skylines) so it's usually cheaper or the same cost as sourcing locally. Cars in Japan are comparatively cheaper than in Aus, just have to pay postage lol
