This was really helpful, thanks!! FYI for future watchers: "Batch specify cels" was renamed to "Assign multiple cels".

This saved me a butt-ton of time! Thank you for making this video! I will amend this tutorial for newer CSP versions: Animation/Edit track/"Batch Specify Cels..." is now "Assign Multiple Cels..." The subsequent popup window has the same layout. Cheers!

This video is very helpful! I followed along and was able to get my projects imported from adobe animate to clip studio pain as image sequences and it works perfectly! Thank you so much.

Batch specify cels (or Assign multiple cels) is one of the most useful functions of Clip Studio when it comes to animating stuff, I'm glad it exists. Batch process too. THanks A lot Reuben.

This is possibly one of the easiest to understand CSP Tutorials I've seen. Thank you. I made 45 seconds of a layout animation back years before I had an animation software, just frame-by-frame in SAI or GIMP, and I still have all the png files of the frames in a folder but I didn't want to manually import all of these layout frames, because I'm not a masochist. Not like back then, anyways.

Thank You very much. CSP is amazing for drawing, but for animation - import of the video reference was complete headache, because of permanent File import error. Same time i could import image sequence into adobe animate, but there are horrible drawing tools (as for me.) Thank You ery much - i can import now->draw with pleasure, and pain is over!))

Thank you this was very helpuful despise being quite old! Also just in case, people were to watch this video, you can now transform the whole group of images just by selecting the animation folder and modifying it (just make sure that only the folder is selected, and with not another image within it because it would modify this image twice, creating a disruptancy in the animation)
@canobenitez4 ай бұрын
Thanks, I tried to transform the group but It kept transforming only 1 layer, how frustrating!

Thanks Reuben. I know this is years later but it’s still relevant. The process is sooooo clunky and at least this removes some of the pain. I am thinking that animating in other platforms and then using this method will help access superior drawing tools. I’m not saying anything new am I… but I wanted to at least express thanks.
@ReubenLara4 ай бұрын
yeah they need to give this some attention. the most recent version does bring some much needed updates to the animation workflow. Even with the animation flaws, the drawing tools in CSP still outweigh everyone else's toolset that it does keep me coming back to CSP for the whole process. But... use what's most useful for you! I've never been religiously tied to any one software. Use what works! Thanks for taking the time to leave a message! (even though I myself are months behind haha!)

HI i would honestly love if you could make a video about possible effects available in animating in clip studio ( if their are any) I'm kinda in this weird spot where I mostly use toon boom to animate but i mostly do frame by frame and i feel like the program is too big and expensive for what i'm trying to do so i'm looking at clip studio as a big alternative rather than going back to Adobe animate/Flash. Anyway of making a tutorial of whats possible with clip studio animating? Thank you in advance and love your channel
@ReubenLara5 жыл бұрын
If you are doing 2D I would totally recommend CSP. I have an Animation Basics video on my channel (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mp5dp5Cqysqxnmw.html ), as well as an update you should see here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bZZ-q71_nterj30.html , since when I recorded the Animation Basics there was no audio or motion tweening yet. But the Animation Basics Parts 1 and 2 give a complete overview of the actual 2D animation process.

This is great! What are the 4th and 5th rows of buttons in your Quick Access Animation window? Are they retiming shortcuts? I've been looking for something like that for Clip Studio.
@ReubenLara5 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much! Actually many of them are custom icons I've created (and will be sharing in a future shortcuts pack on Gumroad). Specifically, the third row is: Export Image Sequence, Import Batch Process, Batch specify Cels, Standardize in order of Timeline, Change Timeline settings, and Change Frame Rate. The fourth row is: Enable onion skin, Onion skin settings, then four actions i've created and added as shortcuts to show various quantities of before and after onion skin drawings. What kind of retiming shortcuts are you looking for?

Is it possible to import animated GIFS and AVI files in Clip Studio Paint EX? I'm asking this because I use CACANi to create animation sequences and export them those two formats (AVI only when voiceover audio is inserted)?

how would i do this on the ipad version? when you say to select current canvas that option is greyed out for me and "all pages" is automatically selected instead, and when i go ahead and import my image sequence anyways i'm left with the same canvas i started with and my image sequence is nowhere to be seen

I have around 360 frames and when I use batch specify it does do it, but only like 24 frames show up in the timeline instead of all the frames. Is there a way to fix this?

Okay figured it out. But after I imported the images and set the images to individual cels, it only shows 15 frames out of 90 on the actual timeline.

I was able to get the PNG sequence on the timeline, but I can’t see the frames, even if I press the playback button. Edit: Nevermind! I didn’t do anything differently (as far as I know) and somehow got it to work on my IPad! Thanks for the tutorial!

haha! i had been using an old Cintiq 21UX for ages and it never died! (until it did). Finally upgraded to a newer HD Cintiq. But those old ones were workhorses and honestly sometimes I miss the "squarer" format that 4:3 provides. Good catch!
