Күн бұрын

I have had a bunch of people ask me what the process is for legally importing firearms into the US. I have gone through this process now a couple times over the past few years, and I think I have a good enough understanding to give you an overview. If you are interested in importing a firearm, the two things to know are that (1) it is possible to legally do this, and (2) it will be pretty expensive to do.
The customs broker I use is Polaris Worldwide Logistics (www.polaris-log.... They were one of the supporters of Desert Brutality, and my import experience with them has been the best of any of the several companies I have used. I would highly recommend them if you are looking to get into this process. You can reach them via the head of their firearms department, Les Winner, at les.winner@polaris-logistics.com.
Some resources that will be useful in this process:
ATF Import Guide: www.atf.gov/fi...
Form 6: www.atf.gov/fi...
Form 4590 (handgun requirements): www.atf.gov/fi...

@AdBlock plus Nothing illegal about buying a BMP, although you might have to jump through some hoops and a tax stamp or two to get one with the autocannon still installed. But still very doable. Tanks and other AFVs are very much legal to buy in the US and they go up for auction all of the time.

TBH if this were my passion, it'd be more about the building of international connections any way I could - the internet is a wonderful thing, as are conventions/trade shows - and being willing to make this my 'money-hobby' for lack of a better term. For example, I built and continuously upgrade a gaming computer, which has easily cost me five thousand dollars over the past seven years. If instead I did not care so much about this, I could easily afford to do this import process to acquire some C&R weapon I found out about. As with most non-trivially expensive things, it just all depends on how much of your expendable income you are willing to dedicate to any given passion project.

Fascinating! I went through this process 20 or so years ago for an Australian Sportco M44 target rifle, and the "Custom Broker" step was FAR easier. Seller in Australia (with copy of my Import form, and his Export form) shipped it UPS. It was stopped by Customs, stamped "Inspected", and delivered to my door by UPS (I was an FFL then). The rifle cost me $180 USD ( $300 AUD at the time), and $100 for shipping.

I imported an FN49 from Canada about 20 years ago. I used Big Valley Gun Works in Montana as the importer. I paid the seller and put them in contact with the importer. The importer took care of export and import procedures and customs fees. The importer then shipped to my local FFL. The process took about eight months. It was the only way to get an FN49 that had been issued to the Belgian Army.

Thank you so much for this video. I'm trying to import a VZ 58 and 7.5FK BRNO PSD from the Czech Republic that I plan on buying when I go on my vacation there. There's a gun KZfaqr from there who talks about and I've been talking to him about it. He says they're very permissive and I found a consulate website that says they literally honor our state permits to carry by paying a $20 fee and filing a paper to have them issue me a Czech one. You've gave me a bunch of stuff and let me know things I didn't know about on the US end and logistics end that I can use to get my task accomplished. Especially the fact that a normal FFL can pay for the permit specifically for occasional guns a customer wants to import. The hardest problem is getting the serial numbers ahead of time so I'm going to see if I can find a company that would store the gun for me while I wait for the process to complete since clearly I'd only get the number once I'm there to make the purchase.

My only experience with importation happened about 16 years ago. A customer who had moved from Canada wanted to import his own rifles. The group was a mixture of sporting and mil-surp. Some of the items were approved by ATF and some were rejected. All the rejects were mil-surp, but at least one of the approved rifles was mil- surp, so that criterion alone was not controlling. Eventually, the approved items were shipped to LAX. My boss went there to claim them. Customs would not release them to him. He explained the situation to the supervisor and showed the ATF approval documentation. We're not ATF, the supervisor said, we're Customs. We don't care what ATF says. He drove back empty-handed and got in contact with ATF, who replied, essentially, we're ATF; we can't control what Customs does. So he embarked on a phone back-and-forth with bureaucrats at both Customs and ATF until he climbed the ladder to the point that he got decision makers from both agencies who could mutually approve the deal. So then he went back to LAX and was able to get the rifles released. The upshot was that the importation was possible, but it was too much of a hassle to be worth repeating. When I opened my own gun store, I had a customer or two ask me to facilitate an importation, but I declined, given the memory of the previous one.

Thanks for this video. You explained quite well a subject I have read on but yet never been able to quite grasp. I've kept a C&R FFL for quite a while and always wondered how importing a firearm would work. Now I have a much better idea of how to do it (basically, call Polaris; a little more money spent is better than risking screwing it up myself) .. and that it's WAY outta my price range! LOL. ;) That said, what a freaking hassle to go through just to spend your own money on an item and bring it to your door! Sheesh! We may have, overall, in most places, the best gun laws in the world, but some things really need to be eased up. I can see careful overseeing of large importation companies to ensure each gov't gets their due [eye-roll] but for we common folk, I don't think .gov is gonna miss any three martini lunches if they ease back on the fees and restrictions. --- Okay, off me soap box. :)

I really enjoyed your video. My brother and I have both been victims on very serious violent crime. In the one incident my brother almost lost his life. We live in Canada and the restrictions and hoop after hoop in trying to get a firearm is not only completely insane but unattainable for us. Not because of any criminality but just simply the laws we have. We understand and in most cases agree with the restrictions but in comparison to the U.S we stand a better chance of winning a lottery. It is completely unnerving and downright terrifying to know we could be a target of a random violent crime again at anytime. Again thank you for sharing your experience and time. Sincerely…The Northern Brothers…

@@internetbodhi1009 In the US they do Dewats count as firearms. Basically if it was once a firearm it's always a firearm unless it has been destroyed in accordance with ATF regulations, which if I remember right is something like 3 diagonal cuts fully through the receiver with a plasma torch that removes like 1/4 inch of material with each pass.

@@theobuzat9091/videos On the Fr-F1 video the gun clearly has a different barrel, different bipod (at least mounted differently), different handguard, still has iron sights, etc. In this video he calls it the FRG2, and with the same style of bipod as the Fr-F2 I have no reason to doubt him.

@@jubuttib But is it his rifle? Because his rifle his a Fr-F1, not a Fr-G2, I don't agree on the fact that the muzzle brake is different, the bipod is the same as far as I can see. Handguard seems similar and the barrel well looks the same. And tes you're right it doesn't have iron sight but....is it important ?
@jubuttib
@jubuttib 4 жыл бұрын
@@theobuzat9091/videos No real idea if it's his or not. The Fr-F1 in the zeroing video has a completely different bipod mounting system, the bipod on that mounts to the lower portion of the handguard, whereas on the one in this video the handguard has a cutout at the top and the bipod is mounted to either the barrel or something surrounding the barrel, the bipod itself in the Fr-F1 video is completely different (different top, bottom and middle parts compared to this one), the handguard itself doesn't have grooves cut into it in this one unlike the older Fr-F1 video, and there are no iron sights on this one. If it's an Fr-F1, it has an Fr-F2 style bipod mount, but lacks many of the features of the Fr-F2 on the handguard and barrel. He calls it an Fr-G2 in the video, and since it matches neither the Fr-F1 or the Fr-F2, I'm willing to take his word for it for now.
