My preceptor didn’t have patience to teach and came in late which pissed me off because I was never able to start without her. I liked to come in early to be ahead of things. But nnnooo she came in late then was rushing me to do everything and left me during bad situations. But she knew her stuff as a nurse and she wasn’t a bad person. Just for me we weren’t compatible when it came to student and teacher.

I never cared to impress my preceptor it was her job to help me and then correct any mistakes I might have made before I started on my own it’s really not that big of deal they are nurses just like us and they are there to help .. this isn’t a competition

Yeah, saw that, think im going to apply at med-surg.

@@devinknight767 I personally could never do Med-Surg. After I got my licensee I was fortunate enough to get into the ED. During school clinical rotations I hated med-surg it was boring for me I felt like a waiter and did nothing but tasks. Now med surg nurses I respect them for doing what they do but it isn’t for me. I need action haha but when you do go into to the ED and ICU as new grads it can be harsh when it comes to the training but I loved it! However if you want med surg do it! It may be good for you and you may love it. There usually is a big difference. When I got hired they made me do a rotation in med surg I almost died hahaha and the new grads from med surg did a rotation in the ED and they almost died haha! Good luck! What ever you choose you will do great:)

Why is it important to impress preceptor ?

Right?? I was like, why do I have to impress you? I'm there to learn and take care of patients. If it's a supervisor, then I understand😂

is there a particular reason none of the preceptors were of color? precisely black? or are there no black nurse preceptors available for this video? I ll like to believe that this channel is for all nurses not just a handful . black nurses/students who would have appreciated at least one black preceptor on this interview. I know I did. Not to cause any issues or anything, but for future interviews.

maybe because this video is intended to be about diversity of thought, not diversity of skin color.

Maybe the hospital this interview was done in was a predominantly white neighborhood or town?? Can't stand people like you

The second one that said come in 30 minutes early... oh heck no. The first 5 minutes are awkward enough as is. Lol Like any job, go in and do what you're there to do.
