Totally getting into the concept of using limitation exercises. I'm also refusing to use first, second and fifth pentatonic positions during practice since I fall back on them far to often.

Hey Jack, great lesson as always! Suggestion for the next lesson : How to voice lead with chord progressions to sound less "generic". Like a simple I-V-vi-IV but with colorful chords and voice leading to make it more interesting and less pop tune feeling.

Maybe use the notes that you are meant to "normally" use, but jump an octave higher or lower. Eric Johnson is great example playing sometimes simply triads, but they are more spread, or he will skip playing some strings in a chord. So for example if you are going from C to Am, the C note can be played in both chords but in different octaves

Fantastic concept to improve creativity! Never really took that approach before but since I know all of my 7 positions of the major scale, I can see this becoming rather useful once I get the hang of it! Great lesson!!!

Just listening to the intro over and over improves my brain and thus improves my brain to finger transfer and thus improves what it all sounds like and thus improves the expressions on the faces of the listeners. Damn, I love how you play brother Jack.

Great stuff! Will try. Some questions: when playing on just one string do you think of the notenames you're playing? Or scale degrees (if so, do you switch from G major to C lydian with the chord change)? Or more the visual aspect, "connecting the dots"? Cheers!

Interesting, limiting to one string I have done, for some reason, I never thought of 2,, or even 2 that weren't adjacent, Of course., many other worlds like the Indian sitar have been playing like this for always., and if you had a slide, you would also be forced to think this way .. are there any videos of JG on slide guitar
