If you find my video's informative, useful and slightly amusing and you'd like to buy me a coffee, you can here www.buymeacoffee.com/lyndenbl... and me and my family will be very grateful for your kindness.
In this video we look at how to use a blues scale as the basis for a solo on the sax. We look at some simple, yet highly effective "question and answer" phrases that sound fantastic and are easy to get the hang of.
If you're not sure what a blues scale is, take a look here:

And here are some other cool videos about sax playing:
Pentatonic scales • Pentatonic scales expl...
Major scales • Understanding major sc...

This appears to be the best youtube sax site I have tried. Lyndon is on the same page and what he shows and how he explains everything clicks with me straight away. As an older (lot older) beginner who is self taught, this really helps. Thanks from the other side of the world (Cairns, Australia) 😊

Lynden, this is by far the most helpful video I have watched as a beginner saxophone player trying to work on their improvisation. Please do not stop creating these videos, you have a knack for presenting things in a way that's easy to understand.

@@lyndenblades No problem, Lynden, thank you! I like the idea of sticking with ba scale (in this case D) and working out everything you can do with it! It would be great if you could do a similar video for another one of the blues scales!

Sound of a sax is clear, cool, and most a relaxing concept. I’ve known Blue scaling for years… added to… “ I like chicken and my wife likes cheese.” Profound but not hard! Thanks for the tips. Martin CommitteeII and III horns- alto and tenor gets it done for me!

For me the things that makes you stand out from allll the other online sax teachers is that you really care by replying to all the comments and that is HUGE!!! Also the type of content you putting out is simple easy to follow and very effective. I really love the way you show the patterns and then give examples of how to use them. No other sax teacher does this! I been through a lot of online teachers and you are by far the best. Thank you for all the time and effort that goes into making all these super use full lessons. My Monday night jam night is going to be awesome from now on!! 😄

helo, the strategy is great. but what if the chord progression is not only 2 chords like the backing track in the video lets say a famous I vi ii V. this strategy still works? thank you
@lyndenblades
@lyndenblades 5 ай бұрын
Hi there, thank you for your question. This strategy works well over a blues but won’t work so well over a 251 or other more complex chord structures. I will be creating tutorials on other chord structures including 251’s in the coming days and weeks. If there’s anything you’d like to see specifically then please let me know 🤝🤝🎷🎷
