In this video I give you loads of lovely Blues scales licks or phrases to learn, show you how to work out a blues scale in any key and how to make great phrases out of the scale for yourself. Then we apply the phrases to the jazz standard The Autumn leaves to create a lovely solo which is an alternative to following the chords which I've done for you in another tutorial.

Thanks for your videos. 2 Suggestions: 1] Always IMMEDIATELY give the CONCERT KEY you are playing in and the HORN KEY you are playing in. AND 2] at the very end of the lesson you should play the entire lesson solo through a few times as a reference and that way we can "clip" and isolate it for real-time ear training.

Great process work, but what I need is to hear how it integrates with the basic tune. It would be great if you could play the melody once and go into the solo.

Am I wrong, or do you really play ACDDC AGA the second time through the A section (instead of ACADDCAGA)? Or is it ghosted just below audibility ? At any rate it’s beautiful and is a great lesson in unrushed pacing and open spaces. Thanks!

Lynden so its not a Eminor track its a Gminor.

Concert G minor, A minor for tenor. I hadn’t transposed the backing track chords from making the alto version, that’s probably why it’s thrown you but it’s definitely in G minor
