Good idea to back that bullet off tje rifling lands a bit. Even .015 You will retain accuracy and safer chamber pressure. Also have a bit room for small differences in individual bullets.

Exactly, back off apx 4 thousandths. 3-5 is the norm. Putting it touching lands is tantamount to over-pressures.

Great video...I shoot the same gun with sub m.o.a.. groups @200 yds.I perfer to use Eric Cortina method.Called chasing the lands. Understanding this video will lead you to become a better loader and a better marksman.

One more surprising change that yielded noticeable positive results for me: use Lapua brass. It's very expensive, and actually makes a difference...

Great vid no rambling just information, I would add smoke the projectile to identify land marks and depending on make of projectile start backing off at 5 thou per three shot group as you might decrease the group and reduce the recoil. Bloody good group at 200yds mate you have very good technique

I did that with my 35 Whelen and with a 225 grain bullet it will put m through the same hole at 100 yds very accurate.

The second group is 0.47” and the first group (looks at least 20 times the size) is about 1.5”? Sure?

Sir be careful . Look at Eric Cortina video on Jump, In the lands, and Jam. You want to stay away from Jam. The way you just described how you seated the bullet and then closed the bolt gives you Jam point. You want to back off that point then find your sweet spot. How to find jam on your barrel. Do this before load development. - KZfaq

Good info, but it's more improving the bullet than the rifle itself.

I would think your results were greatly controlled by working up your powder load, which is very time consuming. Did you do that first and what was your time to success? Working up the powder load for me took about 30 trips to the range overall and is very rewarding !!

I tried 3 different powders with 3 different bullets. Narrowed it down to the most accurate combination then worked the powder load up from where I started until I got 1/2 inch groups at 200 yards. Took me about 6 trips to the range.

Be very cautions when jamming the bullets in the lands. Different powder or loads, different bullets could cause pressure spikes and if your loading close to max that could be life altering. Take Rugergundog advise and back them up a bit and if you leave them check for pressure signs
