How to Increase Your Finds Rate Metal Detecting

Want to find more stuff while you go metal detecting?
In this episode I am revealing my number one top tip for increasing your finds rate while you go out metal detecting. This is something I have done for many years now and I am convinced that by doing this one thing, When I go over a good target I will be sure to dig it.

I’ve been doing this very routine for over 30 years and it does work. It seems people get lackadaisical about detecting. If you want good results you need to put in the work. If they use the tip they’ll find it makes a difference. I have several coins made up to test against. It depends on where I am and what I’m looking for. Cheers mate

Hey John, thanks for the comment buddy. It is too easy to not do this but once you get yourself in the habit of doing it it’s easy and takes no time at all. Always like to hear from people that use this trick too especially with your kind of experience. Don’t be a stranger buddy 👍👍

Another great video 👍. The best bit of advice I've received was to put the Deus 2 remote in my pocket and honestly my finds rate has massively increased.

That is certainly very good advice indeed. I do like to use T.I.Ds from time to time though but like you I am predominantly audio first. Thanks for commenting 👍👍

I keep the coin in a small zip lock bag with a "dummy cord" attached to the surface so I don't lose it.

It will for sure work on US coins my friend. Just pick the smallest and thinnest one you can find and bury it spade deep and you will be fine 👍👍

Hi I watched your video last night and what you were suggesting made sense. What I would have liked to have known is what things you were tweaking in the remote control to optimise the detector in the field. Thanks.

Hi Steve, thanks for watching. So I would adjust these settings in this order: frequency, reactivity, sensitivity, discrimination. After any adjustments to a quick scan and your away buddy 👍👍

@@OMA_MetalDetecting Thanks for the pointers. I guess that when you have been detecting as long as you have you have a better grasp of some of the fundamentals. I do adjust the frequency presently, but dong deviate away from the standard settings, I suppose it’s a confidence thing. The changes sounds simple enough to me to make and will give it a go next time I am out and will see how it goes. Many thanks for the advice.

I've only used the factory setting on the Equinox 600, but not found hammered so far, so may play with the settings to do your trick with buryi g a hammered. Had several with my old Minelab Sovereign.

That's cracking mate, ive been on a new peryfor a few months now, its producing a lot of Georgian pennies, one Silver George III which was stunning and an amazing James II 1602 Silver Quarter Merk, so im taking those two coins next time, hopefully this Sunday and going to try this and hopefully get some more decent coins up🤞🏻 I was wondering around there last weekend saying out loud to myself "where TF is everything? Its either been detecting on before or there simply isnt anything in here!" 😂 It will be really interesting to try this out and see what happens and if i remember i will let you know how i get on 👍🏻 cheers very much Michael 👍🏻 all the best Ryan.

Nice one Ryan, sounds like you’ve had some cracking luck recently mate. I always think of you have given it a day and still find nothing then it might be worth moving to a different field but honestly, there is something in every field, you just have to put the hours in to find it. @@OMA_MetalDetecting oh don't worry I put the hours in alright 😂 last weekend I started at 10:15am and finished just after 5 with a less than 10 minute break to ram a sarnie down my throat 😂👍🏻 I get hyper focused when detecting which is bad, I often don't even stop for a drink, just keep going and going 😂 I'm actually struggling with a painful right elbow now, which is a bit annoying, too much detector swinging mate 😂 I actually bought some elbow supports a few weeks ago so it didn't hurt so much when detecting, don't think they work though! 😂

If you do this tip it will tell you instantly if you need to ground balance your machine for the site. I will say though that a majority of the time I never need to ground balance however it might be different in your part of the world Chuck. Good luck my friend 👍👍

I think it was a tweaked version of General from memory Chris but don’t hold me to that, it was filmed a few weeks ago during that epic storm we had mate 👍👍

If your not confident changing the settings on your machine Jesse just run the factory programs over the target until you land on one thats better than the others pal 👍👍

Excellent advice, I pretest after Ive ground balanced my Deus 1 and 9 dig days out of 10 I will come home with a coin . GLHH. Mac.

Larger the coil the better and don’t need a multi frequency detector

Hey, that's absol. FanTASTIC thanks Michael!!... 🙏 Yes, I HAVE done a version of this, but dug out a 'full/typical' plug which, as you've said here, completely ruins the 'authenticity' of the test. Your *Crafty* single cut, followed by *sneaking* the coin across and under, is absol. genius my friend!!... As luck would have it, I have the Eddy i Penny, (and some clear plastic envelopes) - but I think I'll treat myself to some of those saucy coin capsules now... 😃 One little addition, if I may, (and I saw your recent Go Terrain video...): GT users, could add the custom settings to the GT 'activity' for that field/permission... Waddya fink? 🧐🤓 But yes, most excellent matey, and I'll def. be doing this!!... 👏👏 Thanks as ever, Bobby 🐭
