boosty.to/nikzvi This the new tutorial from the "Winning from the very beginning series" and today we will be talking about inline skating on one foot!
0:00-01:08 - Intro
01:09-02:42 - 1 foot stance
02:43-03:31 - 1 way of balancing
03:32-04:01- 2 way of balancing
04:02-05:07 - 3 way
05:08-05:33 - Alltogether
05:34-06:10 - Outro
First of all to skate properly on one foot you should use the proper stance for one foot. That means that the knee should be bent and the shin presses the tongue of the skate. The crucial point here is the edge of the wheels. You should be on the center or the outside edge. If you're skating on one foot all your weight should be on that foot that means that if you're skating on inside edge you will have to shift all the weight to the side curving the body. That doesn't look good and it's not comfortable enough.
Now you know the proper stance. It's time to understand how to skate in this stance for a long time, how not to fall, how to keep the balance. There are 3 ways of balancing while inline skating on one foot.
First is rather natural. To balance with your hands and torso, like walking on the rope.
Second is to use the second foot the one that is not occupied with skating as a counterweight.
Imagine that you're the one footed pirate, Captain Silver and you're skating through the asphalt waves of the city on one foot. You can use another foot as a driving wheel to keep the balance.
The third way is the way of micro moves. Move the weight a little bit to the heel. Your toes will be lightweight so it will be possible to move them from side to side and compensate the change of the balance.
Of course on the big speed if you're afraid of falling you can use all the three types of balancing together. And that will be the most efficient way of inline skating on one foot.

Thanks for the tips. I'm curious why all of your footage (pun intended) was only on your left foot? Can you give tips for training your weaker foot?
@NikZvi
@NikZvi 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I knew that I have to shoot something with another foot. I don't have any problems with one foot on my right in fact. It's just a little bit more comfortable to be on the left one. The only advice here is to practice weaker side more. One foot is not a difficult thing so it's pretty simple to make both sides approximate equal. The problems usually start with such elements as slides or backwards. But practice is the only answer.

Why do I feel when I try to practice t stop.. When I'm on one foot I feel like the skate is moving regardless of me being there so when I place my back foot down even gently.. It's jolts me back or I physically feel I have no control of my front foot?
@NikZvi
@NikZvi Жыл бұрын
That's a weight distribution, you're not putting your weight center over the skate. Keep the knee bent and put you skate on the outside edge. It will tend to get out from you, so you have to get it back with small correcting foot moves. For a t stop I have a different tutorial with three main points. Usually the main problem is in bad angle of the back foot.

it's so hard to skate on one leg...any tips on how to progress step by step?
@NikZvi

The easiest way is just to make your strides longer each time trying to stay on one foot as long as you can. All other tips are in the video. Also don't forget to keep more weight in the heel .

@NikZvi
@NikZvi 2 жыл бұрын
In a perfect world both. But start from the one that is more comfortable for you and learn technique for it, then train the other one. It's important to be able to do at least a small one foot on both feet, but one side could be better than the other

The only reason for spin is that you put it with a wrong angle. It should be less than 90 degrees. Control it and spin will go away.

@NikZvi
@NikZvi 3 жыл бұрын
Hi. .From my opinion it should be ok to try inline skating for you but I don't have any medical degree so I can't give you any specific advices. It's better to start trying with a good instructor or just a friend who could support you because skating needs a good motor coordination and it could be a little bit difficult at the beginning. Also don't forget to use the full protection set. What I can say definitely is that your age is absolutely ok for starting skating.
