More than you will ever need to know about how to insert menstrual discs. This video goes step-by-step through the most important things you should know about inserting menstrual discs - most especially if you've experienced leaks or difficulty. Folding menstrual discs is easy but holding them while folded to insert can pose some difficulty. Different techniques can address this issue and lubricant is always a good idea if you are struggling. Read your brand's instruction manual since each product is slightly unique and may have a specific direction for insertion. Discs with no directionality: Nixit, Lumma (with string cut) Flex or Soft Disc disposable. Discs with directionality: Flex Reusable, Saalt Disc, Cora Disc, Ziggy Cup, Lumma Disc (with string on), Moonthlies, and and Hello Disc. Angle of insertion is also important. The disc will want to naturally follow the angle of your vagina but working with your body is best for making sure the disc tucks below your cervix. Can you use a disc with a tilted cervix? In most cases, yes. But there is one anatomy issue that can prevent success if your cervix is tilted too far against the back vaginal wall which prevents a disc from ever being able to tuck. A scooping method can help, but it won't work for all users.
