In this video, I'll show you how to properly insert the bobbin case holder on my Janome MC9450. While I'm using that particular model of Janome machine to demonstrate, this can also be applicable for many other Janome models.

Thanks for this video, I always thought it was me not doing it correctly, so was glad to see you also had that issue. So now I can relax about it.

Well now I know it's in there right, and it's still not feeding the bottom stitching through. Thanks for the video. Now that I know it's not this I'm gonna have to keep digging.

Hi, my Janome is making a ticking sound. It started after I cleaned it, I changed the needle and tried a few different sizes of needles. It sews perfectly, but I'm afraid I might wreck something if I keep sewing.

Thanks you sooo much! I've been sewing masks, like many, many people, and started having trouble with my 9400. It has been a dream machine, which I bought after watching many of your wonderfully informative videos. It started acting like the upper thread was catching on something in the bobbin area, so I took the holder out and cleaned everything I could find. :) Well, that didn't fix it, so I thought I probably didn't get the holder back in properly. And what do I find on Chatterbox Quilts, but instructions on how to replace that very part! The sketches in the manual do not show the area very well, so I was so happy to find your excellent photos. Well, I'm still at the point where the top thread gets caught somewhere below the switch plate. The error message suggests, my thread is too thick, the fabric is too thick, or the needle is bent. I'ts been sewing many masks with this thread and cotton fabric, and I just replaced needles. I'm in Portland, Oregon, with all shops closed down, and I'm in my 70's, under house arrest :), so I'm frustrated. If you can help, that would be wonderful, as I have masks promised to three medical facilities. They are giving them to patients now. It's ok if you can't really diagnose from your spot in Canada, but I am so grateful to you, and hopeful. Thanks, Dianna

Hi Dianna: Could be a number of reasons why you're having this problem. You've already had success with this combination, but I'm just wondering what size needle you are using. I'm finding that I need to use a 90/14 due to the thickness of the material I'm stitching through. If you're not already using that size, try that first. Also, take off the needle plate, take out the bobbin case holder, and check to be sure that there isn't any stray threads in there. You might want to try to vacuum out the area. You could also put a drop of sewing machine oil in the centre felt area underneath the bobbin case holder. Of course, you know to be careful putting that bobbin case holder back in after watching my video. Be sure that you're putting the bobbin in properly as well. Hopefully this will help. Another thing to do is to check that your bobbin is wound evenly - if it isn't, that can cause problems. Hopefully one of these suggestions will help and you'll be on your way again. Let me know how it goes.

@@Chatterboxquilts Thanks so much for your quick reply and good, detailed ideas. I've tried most of those things, but am going to go through that again. I haven't tried vacuuming, so maybe there is something I've just been pushing around, but cannot see that will come out. Whew! I'm learning, I'm learning.

You need to show where the bottom part need to be. If you move the needle the whole Mechanism moves. That part needs to be shown. If that part is off you’ll never be able to place the bobbin holder correctly. That’s where I’m having problems. Also; I have a 4120 if that matters. I have the bobbin holder that has the 2 red dots.

Hi Kim, thanks for this video. Because i saw this one, I orderd a Janome bobbinholder with the blue tip. I received this one but it says on the package: "Bobbin Holder for free quilting and hand-look quiltstitch. Do not use this bobbin holder on machines other than the MC11000, MC6600 and MC6500". It has the number inside the bobbinholder: 846652308 8g. Is this the same one you are using? It looks the same, but the notification says something else. I am confused now. I told the dealer that the bobbincase was for my Janome MC9400. He never heard about the blue tip one, and ordered it for me by Janome.

If you're having issues with your Janome machine, you're best to take it to your local dealer who can assess the problem for you and suggest how to fix it. I don't have a Janome 8900 anymore so it would be difficult for me to help you with this issue (and I'm not a Janome dealer who are really the experts on their machines). I hope that you're able to get it fixed soon.

Hi, I was having problems with my bobbin case holder jumping out of place, and after doing an internet search it was suggested to buy an after-market Bobbin Holder Supporter, (Janome #846222202). It was $2 but I'm having trouble installing it. It is meant to replace the little clip. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks very much.

I'm not a Janome retailer or sewing machine repair person so my best suggestion is to contact a local dealer for help with this.
