Nice video. I went from oscillating front brakes due to bent axle and warped brake disc, to dragging brakes when I installed a new axle, wheel bearings, disc, and brake fluid. Your tip on squeezing the brakes before tightening caliper bolts is great. Two things, while you were careful to not drop your calipers, they should be supported with rope, not hang. Also, putting a wedge in them while dismounted from the disc will prevent the pistons from being pumped out of the caliper if the brake lever is accidentally squeezed. In your case neither of these are big issues, but worth a mention as a best practice for beginners.

This a great video and I use all your tips when working on my 07 R6. One question that was brought up between and friend and I, the part of tighten up the calipers was to hold the front brakes while tighten. My friend argues that it's not a safe practice to do so because it'll pull the caliper out before tightening. Is it a good practice to spin wheel and holding front brakes prior to tightening it? if so what are the benefits?

Michael Sienicki I'm assuming you fixed the problem, but you could compress the pistons back into the caliper with a clamp and piece of wood. If the pistons came all the way out and brake fluid escaped, you will need to work the piston back in, and then bleed the brakes.

No worries. The front should free spin relatively easy, for sure it should free spin easier than the rear will given the resistance the chain and sprockets add. When the front brakes are hot the free spin of the front wheel will be a little less than when they are cold. With the bike on the front stand spin the front hard, you should see a couple of revolutions or so. This will vary from bike to bike. - Brian Van
