My husband shattered his femur in February and my dad is busy with the holiday season starting up (he makes custom face shaving kits). Our jacuzzi bathtub had 6/10 jets leaking and my 2 year old didn't fit in the baby bathtub fix we were using. I decided to start gutting everything myself and redoing the bathroom. Your channel has absolutely saved me and I'm proving to my family I'm handier than they thought they were! Thank you soooo so so much!!

Jeff, one suggestion. The Schluter DITRA-HEAT System I installed came with 2 temperature probes for the thermostat . As I understand it, they supply two just in case one becomes inoperable and you have no way of connecting another (without pulling up the floor, which will likely damage the heat cables themselves. So you imbed two and connect one to the thermostat. The other is left in the box unconnected in case you need it in the future. Seems to be good insurance. Keep the good videos comin!

That's why it's better if you install thermostat probe inside plastic sleeve so you can replace it *if/when* it broke because it's one of parts that usually get malfunction or actual thermostat device. Kinda weird that it's not recommended on installation guide on that heating system because many other it is.

I already did 2 of our 3 bathrooms already...saved a bunch of money...but NOW I have my girls (wife and daughter) frustrated over cold porcelain tiles in winter. They didn't like the idea of walking on electrical wires and extra expense...and more work. Now I'm thinking that for less than 5 bucks a month to run it all the time?? Maybe I should have just done it and have less frustrations over cold feet. Oh well.. Not gonna rip up the tile now! Contemplating over buying a heat lamp for overhead to replace the one that the exhaust fan shares it's habitat with.... Love your vids and willingness to share your skills and experience! Probe is always best to install inside electric pipe because for sure it doesn't last as long that heating wire itself and then you can replace it no need to redo whole floor. Also hot glue gun works really well when you install heating wire on any surface you can glue it as much as you like and no need to worry that self lever is rising wire up on surface.

Hi Jeff, this is a very cool heating/warming product. I was just about to give up on them but now I see this. My question here is, does this install on concrete flooring without underlayment the way it does here on wood? And if so, how do you run the wiring against concrete first? This is pretty cool.

Great how-to, very informative. Didn't realize there was an option to move the wire further apart to make it a warming system rather than a heating system. Most systems I've see tell you to space the wire 3" apart and 3" ro 6" away from the wall or fixures. Question 1: I'm sure there's a limit but could the gap spacing between wire be reduced to say, 2.5" so that floor heats a bit more? Question 2: You ran the cable up against the tub....apparently that system allows you to do that? Thanks

I’m not a fan of fans or air ducts since a good amount of time moving air messes up projects ect...?

Hypothetically speaking let’s say I was going to put a floating porcelain tile “quick tile” Or something similar what would you suggest when adding let’s say the heating system you’re using or Kerdi heat, Self leveling to seal it in or do you have a different suggestion or should I just stay away from it all together. On the tile that I have it says with any heat applications in a bathroom must use a wet application and I have no idea what that means on a floating tile. Thanks again I appreciate all the videos

Have a more general question of adding tiling to my bath and kitchen on the 2nd story level floor, it's slab house split foyer here in the U.S.A. My flooring is 3/4" tongue and groove on top of 2x8 Douglas fir joists spaced at 16 inches apart spanned out to around 12.5 to 13 feet. Do you know if this is adequate for adding ceramic tiling? Or is it a definite NO GO? Or can it be beefed up from above? Access to the floor joists is unavailable due to finished level below. Thanks for the videos worth their weight in gold!

I am installing schluter ditra over a concrete floor. I’d like to install a heated floor like shown above. How can I secure the wire/wheels to the ditra to then be able to tile over it. I won’t be able to screw it into the concrete.

I looked through the comments by i didn't want you to have to answer the same question multiple times but you said you have to prime the ply SF for the tile to be able to adhere, what is the primer used and what us the appropriate concrete to use to tile right on your wood SF?

It looks that much of the prep is a dry run. Since that is the case, using some scrap wood, nails [sticking out 1 inch] and some string, an accurate measure of the needed wire can be easily accomplished.

that extra work will take half a day and then you will need to remove it all and then go shopping. by the time you do all that you have lost a day of work.

I just finished watching the video, and only one question crosses my mind. Who are the 11 DB's that disliked this video???? I guess it's 11 ppl. that absolutely hated the fact you came up a little short on your first run of the wire...😁😁. I just can't understand ppl. sometimes. Until the next one, hope all is well, and Dirty Jersey out!!!

Wanted to verify since it did not look blue in this video. I guess I'm confused about where you decide to use which type of backing on shower/tub walls. (Not a discussion for a floor heat video.) But any shower I put in from now on will be with a Wedi/Schluter type product or entirely out of sheet PVC. No moisture leaks!
