I propose a flat, flexible, sub cm^2 passive LC tank circuit laminated into an impermiable, flexible biopolymer and dermally implanted in a non irritating place in the hand. Then you need to install a solenoid in the car handle which is driven at some lower fraction of the resonant frequency of the implant LC tank and a pick up coil that outputs to a band pass filter wich is tuned to pass only the frequency of the implanted LC but reject the driver coil frequency. That way when you put your hand into the driver coils field, the implanted LC will oscillate as its resonant frequency and this will be picked up in the pickup coil, passed by the tuned band pass and from there, it can be detected by a microcontroller which engages a few relays which enable the fuel pump or anything else you want. This may sound rediculous to some but just watch a few videos on channels like Applied Sience or The Thought Emporium, or Cody's Lab to see what people can accomplish in a garage. The fact that you could custom tailor the system would make it virtually unhackable except through brute force. On the other hand you could just get full coverage.

Assuming that a thief will be a completely unprepared amateur that has only like 3 minutes to get into the car and start it is really stupid, esp. after realizing that there are cases, even videos of those cases where thieves are going thru process of stealing a car for long tenths of minutes, sometimes even up to a whole hour, in extreme cases where no-ones at home even for long couple of hours no problem.. plenty of time for troubleshooting in that case

lojack is the best recovery system there is you have a very high chance of finding you car if stolen..without lojack you probably won't ever see it again.

I also have my wires hidden and fuse box locked just to make it more annoying for a thief. I also have a throttle control and set it to max slowness when I park it so if they do manage to take it, it won't be fun.

Mount the switch in the trunk. And I wouldn't use the fuel pump I'd use the starter relay. You can also JBweld the fuse tap into the fuse panel that way they can't remove it without a tool if they happen to pull the fuse panel cover.

Definitely! The fuel pump is usually the best choice because people who do steal cars know that the starter is what most people put the switch on. Not only that but the fuel pump is inside the car and is nearly impossible to force start it ie.. give it a current. A starter you can actually make it turn from the outside.. (I wont say exactly how). There are other fuses that do the job too. On some cars they have a fuse called ignition coil or something like that but whatever stop your car from running is all you need! A thief only has a few minutes to start your car and if they don't do it withing that time, they just leave. Thanks for watching!

+Christian Macias Nb With newer cars, even if you force the starter to run, the ECU needs at minimum a signal from the crank angle sensor and/or other sensors to start. Without those signals they can force the starter till the battery is dead and it wont start.

You're over thinking it, if the pump is off/no power how would it damage it..... It can't, the computer doesn't care if there's gas or not it's still going to crank, just like when you're going down a hill with your foot off the gas, theres no fuel going to the engine (in modern cars)

+Atlas WalkedAway should you want to revert, you would need to solder and shrink wrap vs a fuse can just be replaced and its as good as new. Unfortunately it going the same for security... Can be bypassed if you know where to look.

Youre both acting like solder and shrink tube requires a contract with NASA. I happen to be an electronics engineer and my rsx can only be stolen with a flatbed and no witnesses so I do have a perspective on these things. It takes 20 minute to install a perfectly hidden switch with robust connections, but if you want to screw with the fuse box, solder to copper allows, add two more resistive solder joints because you need to add an additional fuse with additional resistive connections, and leave ridiculous wires hanging out of the first place a thief will look once he busts your ignition lock and the car doesn't crank, then be my guest.
