When you wrap the fiberglass tape around the flue soke it in water for 5 mins one stops all the fiberglass shreds in your hands (suppose to use gloves ) 2 when you light the fire it drys the wrap and shrinks a wee bit making it a very tight seal .

I'm not entirely sure about this . If you put water on this pipe it will get rusty as reaction it pretty quick . It's standard steel. Can't be galvanised for abvious reasons. Later on in time you will have it all rusty. Best to Paint the pipe with proper stove paint prior to use of fibreglass tape. Thanks.

Did you put on a spark resister at the top of the flue by any chance? Just wondering if it's a good choice or indeed even needed

I had my pipe run up on the inside of my 10 x 12 cabin. I used rock wool fireproof insulation that goes around the pipe in through the 3 " pellet double wall - wall thimble though my wall.

I used basaltic shell for flue insulation in the wall.(basaltic wool+aluminium foil shell). My chimney is built outside. (Out of modular bricks). My wall is insulated with polystyrene outside. The stove is small-5 kw. Is that shell enough for preventing polystyrene ignition? They say in specifications it is good till 250 degrees celsius and sometimes 400.

Does this burner provide ample heat for you even in winter just curious as I'm aiming for an outdoor lab/reptile/woman cave for my garden as I'm not allowed reptiles in the house il be spending long periods in it so will want a way to heat that's cute to look at yet cosy in winter months. Also if any reptiles end up ill the free heat plus possibly needing to bed down with them will come in handy

DON'T INSTALL A WOOD BURNER THIS WAY. There is too much fire risk and that tape will dry and fail eventually. If it does and you don't notice, then the chance of the shed catching fire is high. Simply making that hole larger and fitting fire board around it and also to the shed wall at the back of the log burner with a little air gap would be a Big improvement. Don't take fire risks. Analyse the install carefully and anything that comes quite close to the burner or its pipes and flues etc.

How interesting. We are buying the same model of stove and putting it in our summerhouse ( posh big shed 20x12 ft). We had intended, like you, taking the flue out through the wooden wall and then up past the eaves just as you have done, but were told it is just not on to come out of the back and through the wall to an exterior bend as this will cause all sorts of problems. We were also told the back of the stove must be 60cm from the wooden wall, over which we must stick some sheets of cement board to save the wooden walls ( 2inches thick) catching fire. Also, what about lost heat if you go through the wall rather than a bend inside from the back of the stove and then the pipe upright and through the roof as is recommended? We have done three stoves in France but all in chimneys or through 2ft stone walls so no problems with catching fire. Any advice and thoughts gratefully accepted. Thanks.

Looks great and I hadn't seen that tape before, looks like exactly what I need for my installation. One question - do you need to wrap the tape all the way from the stove? Would it have worked if you just wrapped a few inches of pipe where it went through the wall?

I always heard the real heat of those stoves comes from the chimney tube. That's the reason the tube goes inside the house up to the ceiling. Aren't you loosing heat installing the tube straight on the wall? Almond shells burning stoves work with same principle tiny stoves with very long tube. I want to install in my shed just I have to figure out how to protect walls and roof from the hot tube.
