See im putting mine in the Living room, but its coming from our high-speed Gaming computer. I have to tweek the Resolution on the computer I found out, and a Certain Distance I found, away from the Screen. I tried to Eyeball it... No Sir. U gotta get the Specs, and measure for that Ceiling Bracket. Cuz theres a certain area that you want your Lens to line up with on the Screen, and the Distance away that is calculated by the Dimensions of the Screen. So yal Cant eyeball it. Lol.

I think you tip about placing the bracket at the center of gravity as opposed to the center of the projector is extremely valuable. After all, the center of balance is almost certainly NOT the center of the device because the weight of the various internal components is unlikely to be evenly distributed. I am always amazed at the number of small details that I fail to consider because I am just a layman. Thank you!

Good solid advice for this budget projector. A £10 one is just a bit of metal , a £100 mount is one that has fine adjustments to get the best alignment and can take a far greater weight so bear that in mind when buying. Get what’s fit for purpose depending on what level of projector you have chosen.

Solid work, I have been a home theater installer for about 7 years. At my current company I am the only person who uses anchors to mount projos and tvs they all think im crazy but they just haven't done the research.. I typically use Hilti Toggle anchors which hold up to 124lb a piece and hang 85" tvs with them never had an issue. A lot of people think you need a stud and thats just not the case unless its a full motion articulating mount.

8:28 You wouldn't believe how many home theaters I've seen over the years, that were mounted with the projector's bracket dead center of the screen, which of course places the lens off center (unless the projector's lens happens to be centered in it's housing, which many are not).

Two long bits of string that are the same length attached to the corners of the screen and pulled tight will give you the exact centre of the screen on the ceiling. If you mark the location and then slide your fingers along the strings (keeping them equal and together) mark again and join the points you have a straight line perpendicular to the screen. Helpful if your room isn’t square...
@apostasiaelegcho5612
@apostasiaelegcho5612 10 ай бұрын
Or, place the end of a flashlight flush against the opposite wall, move the flashlight along the wall until it aligns with the center of the screen which is on the other wall, and that's your lens center, regardless whether the room is square or not. Takes less than one minute to do.

Nice video. Although sheetrock anchors are strong, for something this expensive, you really should find a joist to make sure at least 2 of the screws are secured. Over time, downward forces and shaking from your home theater subwoofer will weaken the hold of the anchors over time. :-)
@GosforthHandyman
@GosforthHandyman 6 жыл бұрын
Not necessary with these anchors - they're rated to 15kg each and there's 4 of them - the projector weighs 3kg. I guarantee you the ceiling will fall down before this comes loose.

very long and detailed video ,well done lad, i got a optoma short throw which i wish wasnt so short throw ! cuz i was hoping to have it against the opposite wall to the screen at 3.5 metres distance but the image is so fucking huge it goes floor to ceiling and beyond ! so have to have it on a coffee table infront of the sofa for the right throw distance ,but a ceiling mount is probably a good option for me, im curious if i can be cheeky and rob the lights rose circuitry to feed the projectors power ( yh itll fail house insurance inspection but so many bodge new outlets that way )

Just plug in your Chromecast into your receiver's HDMI slot if you want to fully utilise the surround sound offered by films in Netflix, etc. Netflix films will usually come with Dolby Digital Plus, or maybe Atmos. Still have to think about the USB power though. Some new receivers might have extra USB slots for powering it, I reckon.

would you suggest mounting the screen first then the projector to fit to the screen to size?

Thanks for the video. Would the same HDMI cable you bought work on a 4k projector 12m long

Not sure on 4K. Mine was ultra cheap and I've never had a problem with HD though. If it's cheap enough and the reviews are OK just give it a try. Don't believe the hype that you need a $100 cable. 👍🛠

4K does not go further than 5 meters in a passive cable. You will want a cat5 balun for longer runs.

Look for active or fiber optic HDMI cables over 10m that support 18GB/s speed. If you have signal, then the cable is more or less just as good as any other more expensive since it's digital (either you have picture or not).

That is a bit dodgy with all the stress on plasterboard in such a small area.. Not good. Better to attach some ply to the ceiling then the mount to the ply

Glad I skipped this thumbs down for misleading title, I so wish KZfaq had an unwatch button so views wouldn't be counted on bids like this, I was expecting to see a vid about the wiring too.
