My favorite way to cut pvc pipe is with a miter saw. The only thing is that I have to dig it out of the back of the garage to use it. I use a 2" pvc pipe cutter that cuts clean. Great video, thank you for the info.

Great tutorial Dan, makes a whole lot more sense to remove the 90's. Really good video, clean and professional.
@inspiringbuilds6 ай бұрын
Much appreciated, I started as a car guy and it was all about flow for better performance. Having the 90’s especially with a slight downward grade made zero sense to me and the check valve certainly wasn’t operating to its full potential because of it. Everything happens for a reason and it allowed for an upgrade. 👍

Having dealt with sump pumps at my condo (25yr) and now at my detached (code) - the only possible negative I am seeing is that you permanently installed the check valve with glue - I see the unit on Amzn but I am used to the black rubber/c-clamp models [aka Buna-N Couplings] . Though I had found my pump worked well for 15yr (until it got seized due to a glove falling into the bottom - I ended up replacing it) - I had a couple of times issues with the check valve. I tried cleaning but ultimately bought a new one. I just undid the clamps with the rubber gaskets - out with the old,. in with the new. IMO with the check valve containing moving parts - it is more susceptible to failure and I would prefer to use the gasket/clamp model to easily review/replace. IMO the permanent method requires more work e.g. cutting/need more new pipe/probably the glue is no good and need to buy more of that etc. I have always been touchy with these things - I bought a water detector from HD and put it near the pump area just in case that big rain was the day the pump failed. Thanks

@@bellyman6969 Thanks for watching and the feedback. The check valve I installed can easily be replaced if ever needed by unscrewing the fasteners as well as the sump pump. Good idea with the water detector if a back up sump pump is not installed. 👍

Another brand uses flexible rubber to attach a similar type valve. This eliminates the glue part. Think this is ok? Thanks. Nice vid.

@@butchie2752 Thank you, I appreciate you watching. I would recommend cement/glue, but yes you can use the flexible rubber you’re referring to as well. You may find this video helpful as well for a super quiet complete setup: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jdx2rM93v7KyqJ8.html

Very nice video and explanation. Currently, my pump discharge piping has the 45 degree elbows just like your new installation, and the current check valve is below the sump cover directly on the discharge of the pump. I want to install this quiet check valve; is it better to install it above the sump cover like yours or below the sump cover? The other noise that I have is transmitted vibration where the pipe tightly goes through the siding of the house.
@inspiringbuilds4 ай бұрын
Thank you, I appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment. I would recommend to install the new quiet check valve above the lid about 12”. If you install it too close to the sump pump a weep hole may be unable to be drilled that many pumps require to prevent air lock. In addition if you install it above like I recommend you can visual see what is going on without removing the lid. A lot of times a check valve will cause your vibration. After installing this quiet check valve let me know. I’ll do another video with a recommended sump pump that is super quiet! If you found this helpful I look forward to you subscribing as part of the family and getting notifications of future videos to help. 👍

@@inspiringbuilds For 30 years I've had Wayne submersible sump pumps which say the pump is precision engineered to eliminate Air Lock, and no weep hole is necessary. Also, I was kind of thinking that by having the check valve closest to the pump under the water, it would assure that the entire line is always water filled and none of it drains back into the sump, although it makes it somewhat more cumbersome to disconnect it being down in the sump.
@inspiringbuilds4 ай бұрын
@@jmurphy2611 They’re great sump pumps, I’m getting ready to do a video on one of them. Super quiet and a game changer! You’re correct with the way they’re engineered without needing a weep hole to avoid air lock.

Can you install this type of pump horizontally rather than vertically?

I’m confused about the permanent bond for the check valve. If you have to replace the check valve, then what? Do you have to get all new pvc piping for the whole setup? Is it okay to not use cement?
@inspiringbuilds3 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching. You can simple unscrew the check valve and replace it when needed. The PVC piping either needs bonded with primer and cement or you can use a PVC coupler that is super easy if you prefer. A 2 pack right now is less than $10. Let me know if that helps. amzn.to/44z3QpS
