Even though most of the comments are crapping on the product, I was fortunate enough to be successful. The written instructions are poor and the visuals are ikea level clear, but the video was very helpful. Know, my faucet doesn't leak and water is not shooting out the back. They should provide directions to the youtube video in the instruction manual since customers are searching the web for assistance.

I bought one of these POS and wound up returning it to Lowes. The instructions were incomprehensible and contradictory. I found a Brasscraft Mixet (MXT01) on Amazon. It comes completely assembled, and all you do is slide the spout over the copper pipe and tighten a screw that's attached to a retainer ring inside the spout that clamps around the pipe. I almost couldn't believe how easy it was. $19.39.

I'm replacing an old faucet with a lime-encrusted diverter. Picked this up at HD, since Danco is the only brand they carry for a single bathtub faucet replacement. Got it home, unpackaged and took a look at the instructions. They were probably the worst instructions I've ever seen. Missing step about drilling out the hole for the retaining screw. Unclear about when to tighten and how much...I'm an engineer. I like clear directions. I'm using 1/2" nipple copper with no threading. Did the install, leaks out the back. Did the install again with 8-10 wraps of teflon tape...worked for about a minute with no leaks, then turned on the shower and leaks out the back. The leak comes from the adapter to the extension nipple. I can't do anything else with this kit...I've already started to score the copper pipe due to the tight retaining screw..and I can't put more teflon tape on it. Complete waste of money for me, the job is going to take another day at least to complete, and the the poor instruction in the kit could lead someone into damaging their pipe, which would be a real nightmare. I find it unconscionable to sell garbage like this. Not cool.

👍 I couldn't align the retention screw but no leaks. After trying yo align screw hole & pipe rentention slot for 5 hrs I'm just using without tightening & will watch for leaks Best Video for this topic to the point clear thank you

This is what worked for me: use a drill bit slightly smaller than the set screw opening on ext nipple to get thru the plastic. Make sure to clean out the threads inside. Assemble it off the copper nipple and make sure the set screw will go thru as needed. Now assemble as instructed. When you have the set screw on the bottom, use a 90 degree Phillips screwdriver. I had a ratcheting one that was super helpful. Complete the rest of the assembly.

Thanks for the video. But why, when I removed the old spout was it a simple set screw...and with this thing there's multiple pieces and components? The package I bought had nothing that resembled that 'adapter' you show.

This design is horrible. I went through hell with this exact set up. You can't see if the "hole" lines up with the slot on the first threaded piece. I tightened it as mush as I could and the damn spout shot off. Luckily no one was in the tub. Everyone, look for a spout with the "white tube piece" attached to the spout, if using slip on. Don't mess with this kind.

I just bought one of these and installed it just like the video I tightened the set screw as much as I could before piercing the copper pipe. No matter what I did when I turned the shower on the pressure blasted the tub faucet off the pipe. I ended up soldering 1/2 in connections to both ends of a piece of pipe and called it a day. Crap product

I need to repalce the spout soon in my upstairs bathroom and need to seal around the 1/2 water copper piple coming out of the ( tile wall) , however I have read conflicting information on using Silicone on Copper pipes. Some say is ok to use on copper pipes, but others say the acidic content of silicone will react with copper and damage copper pipes. I was thinking about uisng Acrylic Latex Caulk plus Silicone which has very little silicone , Can you please share your thoughts!

I did as this video said, but the male adapter of the plastic ext nipple leaks! It is not leaking from the end secured to the wall. ?No matter how many layers I put on it still leaks. Do I need a new one, or is there another way? Thank you!

Just installed this. It leaked out the back. Turned out to be the cheapo teflon tape they supplied. Thankfully I had a roll of my own. I took off the faucet, got as much of the old tape off as possible, then used my tape. So far so good.

Great video! You might want to show a little more clearly how to drill the hole in the plastic for the set screw. Both of the tub spouts in my house had been installed by professionals and they failed to ensure that the set screw actually made contact with and indented the copper nipple. I think that's where most folks are having trouble......

@Danco: Please reply to some of these comments with a solution. Not just a scripted apology referring them to call customer service. I believe it would restore faith in your products. I appreciate that you did so in your 2013 version of this identical video. We are attempting to remove our spout because there is still a sizable gap b/w it and the wall. This is due to your instructions which direct us to leave a 1/2 to 3/4" gap when installing the adapter (A). In the video, there is no gap and the adapter (A) remains flush. This is what we would like to replicate, per your video and not per your instructions. Unfortunately, when we attempt to remove the spout, it just spins. Any recommendations?

My old spout has no set screw (I promise). The spout is NOT threaded. I have pulled with great strength to pull it off, no go. How do I remove it?

I have to agree with many of the comments below on the unbelievably poor instructions that come with the Danco kit. Beyond that, there are multiple problems with the kit itself - almost too many to list. I wasted at least 3 hours trying unsuccessfully to install this faucet before I gave up. I consider myself a reasonably skille DIYer, but this kit absolutely defeated me. I'll buy one that actually works and chalk it up to (unpleasant) experience.

I agree with everyone. First....Danco plumbing products, as the kids say..........S U C K. 2nd.....Danco instructions ferociously.......... S U C K. The guy who wrote these directions.......hates people. And, "Yo, Danco, can you make the print any smaller and the text any denser?" I called Danco once for an issue I had with another of their products and the kid on the phone was not really able to help me. Finally, I agree with Ansel. This video overcame Danco's sucky written directions and enabled me to finish the job with what appears to be a functioning spout that doesn't leak. This is not rocket science and once you figure out what is supposed to happen (not from the directions), it seems to go OK.

What kind of company design's a spout that uses a metal screw to clamp on the copper tubing, then has you screw the spout onto threads, thus turning the metal screw. which cuts into your copper tubing. Ruining your plumbing. This is the dumbest design ever. Now I'm paying a plumber to break out my tiles and soldiering a new copper pipe. A 30 dollar product is costing me 400. Thanks danco. PS the one I replaced had a brain.

Video needs updated, you have new tub spouts that are not even close to this one in parts.

This design is ridiculous. You are supposed to align the hole on second piece with the slot on first piece, but you can't see it! Then you have to screw through a "closed" hole till you "feel" it touch the copper pipe, then you keep screwing...but not "too much"! Taking it back. "bout had a brain aneurysm. Simple words, simple parts, it not that hard.

This is without a doubt one of the worst engineered and designed products Iv ever used. This video makes it seems great it is not that way , literally shoots off the stub out copper every time you turn the water on . Can not tighen it down any other way
