I swear....one of the best things about owning an older model E46 is your KZfaq channel!! It's like getting a free mechanic with the car. (Without the labor of course) After owning 3 different e36's...I finally upgraded and got a 2005 e46 coupe. It has 183k , the engine was chugging and shaking while driving yet no CEL's! . It turned out to be a Locked-UP clutch fan that was completely off-center and out-of balance. I have watched and implemented literally 5 of your videos so far...including this one. Thank you for the wealth of information and no-nonsense repair videos.

Having bought a used 04 330i, i have had to do some extensive repairs. Without your videos i would have been lost. I have a great mechanic mind but no experience with bmw or the m54. The details you focus on bring me back time and time again. Every video ive watched i have thought to myself if i could only pick your brain or spend a week helping you lol. Thank you. I cannot say that enough.

I have one of these, works great for the past 5 months. NOTE: Make sure it is 2GB RAM, not 1GB RAM, it makes a HUGE difference. (make sure it's RAM, not storage as they sometimes mislead by putting 2GB in description but it's 2GB of storage/space, not RAM). It is great, just few things to note: - no auto-dim, but there is manual dim. - extremely reflective screen, don't be surprised if you do not see anything at all sometimes when sun is strongly shining. - it is difficult to swipe from top of the screen because of how it is designed. - built-in microphone is a joke, you would have to lean forward and scream into head unit. Buy external microphone, it's 2 dollars or so. I got one and I can use this head unit for Bluetooth hands free calls now. I mainly use it for music and Google Maps - works great for both. GPS is fast enough for me, the lag is minimal (still, Samsung phone GPS is faster). But it's fast enough to navigate through roundabouts and not miss an exit. Music is loud and fine, I have connected subwoofer to it and it's all great. Also, I saved myself all the trouble and mounted microphone on the dash in front of me just behind the wheel. People can hear me just fine.

Did this job on my 320i. You really should find a used ash tray frame from a car that used to have a 2-din stereo from the factory. It will not only look better but also give you no annoying noises from air conditioning block moving around. Fitting in the rear view camera was the hardest part for me. Apart form removing the air deflectors. One thing that I found more comfortable for day to day us: cut a whole in your ash tray and bull USB cables through. Very convenient to use.

Great video. Both the head unit and the air vents will be more flush with the face of the dash if you put the head unit tabs behind the vent tabs before installing the screws.

I have the Pumpkin one. Best thing I ever did to my E46!! I set the lights to orange to make it look stock and they come on when the headlights are turned on and it dims the screen for night driving. i couldn't get torque to work with the Obd Bluetooth so I'll be interested to see if you get it to work. Navi, hands free phone, wifi, iPod .... all fantastic additions to an already great car :)

Hey great in video. Iv done the same thing minus taking down the roof liner and pillar off. Iv had success just taking a flat head screw driver and pushing the wire into between the windshield and the pillar. Because it's so tight where the pillar meets the glass it will never be seen and holds tight. Just makes for easier instalation and removal if you ever sell car and want to go bak to stock. Also, does it have a built in digital crossover or high and low pass filter for each set of speakers(front/rear/sub)? What's the equalizer like? I thought GPS antennae needed a line of sight to the exterior (through glass), hence why my factory HK Nav system has the GPS positioned under the grille at the bottom of the rear window......thoughts?

wondered when you were going to get one of these androids .have fitted these units to my work van and wifies merc .I have had one for a few years in the e46 but a warning on who you get these from Seicane and Eonon are good units and also so is Joying which has lots of tutorials on installing and setting up android multi media systems and after sales is excellent .....but ones sold from Klyde electronic's Shen Zen China keep well away from I have now the Eonon 4.4.4 Kitkat and very good unit ...I removed the external mic cause the unit has a built in one and with the 2 there is scrambling when talking on the phone ..I recently fitted the reverse camera which you can buy off Aliexpress that has free delivery or off ebay at an increased price plus you have to pay for freight the original unit I got from Klyde died after 5 minutes and it took months for them to repair it and when re-fitted reverse camera Car camera DVR and remote all did not work ...Klyde's answer to this is was not to reply to emails and no obligation to have it returned ...brought it through Alibaba web site which I put in a complaint and they put a 6 months ban on the Klyde Electronic's website in Alibaba NOTE ..on fitting the unit I wanted it to be flush mounted so a few washers taped together for spacers fitted to the back where the screw holes that do nothing are ...results were it looks like the unit comes standard and not aftermarket fitting fits all flush if you want to get sat nav working download SYGIC (free) directly to unit and also I have torque pro and that is a must too looking at you install the aircon vents has to be taken out and radio fits under the vent...kzfaq.info/get/bejne/np91mpqLvcveYJc.html

I have a similar unit from Eway gps (hope it's correct), 240$ on aliexpres, 1G ram. It works fine but the buttons' lights don't work any more and from time to time it becomes completelly silent, not even a hiss in the speakers. The seller sent me a firmware update but the issue still appears from time to time, then next day or after 2-3 days the sound comes back

Can you adjust the sound like turn up the amount of bass and such? Would be nice with a bit better sound optimizing

What stereo did you replace this with? I too have heard nothing but bad things about these but i also read That it’s very hard to replace a NAV/CD changer head unit with anything aftermarket. Something about the silly wiring BMW used and how all the computing function happens back at the CD changer?

How long does it take for this unit to boot up? I thought about installing it but if I have to wait too long for a simple thing like a radio then its a no-go for me.

Does the AC control fit properly in the lower slot? Looks like there is a small gap.

A lot of the head unit systems come with the microphone build into it. The $20 one from Walmart has one.

Very nice install and review as always. My only suggestion is that you seriously consider getting whatever bezel/bracket you were referring to for your climate control head unit...it doesn't look the best just shoved in there. Lol.

I dont understand why mine didnt fit. I had the Hizpo and put in my 04 330ci. When I attached the wifi, gps and antenna connections it would not sit flush.Wouldn't go all the way in. When I removed the connections, it fit like a glove. In the end, I just returned it. So now I got a pioneer AVH 2300 NEX dbl din, had to get a face install kit that lets the unit sit out close to 2 ". Not to crazy about that. But now I dont have any sound. This is crazy!!! WTF?? lol

Maybe around 382 USD Just want to hear your opinion what should i need to look at when i get the product. i dont wanna get scamed. I don't know why Seicane doesn't use the built-in mic in cars. The radio one for my Mazda 3 also doesn't use the mic already there. Why is that? Anybody knows?

I planned on doing this for the past few months, but i have the headunit, where the computing is done in the trunk, do i have to reroute all the cables to the front, or ist the install the same as yours? BMW is much eaysier in things like that. Its a tonn of work doing this an Audi A4 B5 for example. Screws everywhere.

That bloody aircon control unit just pops in there?! Buddy at the auto shop was telling me I'd probably have to get some custom cage jigged up in there, and have someone make cuts out of the dash. Thankfully he was just flapping his gums.
