Thank you, Peter. My 1997 T100 with 257,000 is still running great. I was a jet aircraft mechanic. Toyota's are built to last with proper TLC.

Peter, I have a 2001 Tacoma 2.7L 2WD PreRunner Xcab. At approximately 299,200 miles, I started hearing a rattle at the top of the VCG and after watching your videos, I narrowed it down to the tensioner. I picked one up at O'reilly's and changed it out. I immediately noticed there was not a gasket on the original tensioner. Is this normal? The one from O'reilly's came with a gasket and I followed your instructions exactly as described. After starting the truck, the rattle was louder than before, but after a few stop and starts of the engine, I guess after the pressure built up in the tensioner, the engine ran the smoothest it has in years. Was it common/normal for the original tensioner to have been installed at the Toyota factory without a gasket or did they just forget? Please let me know your thoughts on this and thanks for sharing your knowledge on these great videos! Side Note: After replacing the tensioner, the next day I started and completed a 700 mile trip without any problems.
