thanks for posting this video. the 2 aur packages are not compiling as of today. i tried with yay and manually with makepkg, but getting same error. i guess something changed in mesa's main repo since you posted this video EDIT: aur packages were updated and now build

What we see in the matrix is the features the NVK driver can lanage. But is there any interface (CLI or GUI) that can let the user manage or tweak things ?

What about Maxwell gpus? (specifically the mobile card gtx 860m) When would they be supported? Are you german(or french? probably french, I didn't watch much when I made this comment) btw?

What's the state of the driver for regular day to day usage not counting gaming performance? Is it reliable enough to run on a main machine? Can it do hardware acceleration in Firefox with VA-API or VDPAU?

24.0 is the version they introduced the nak compiler into the main branch.

Also for reclocking on Turing and Ampere GPUs you need kernel 6.7+ and nouveau.config=NvGspRm=1

You could be running Arch and NVK on a new SSD in less than 10mn. Or you could try to remove your proprietary drivers, install nouveau and install NVK on your main operating system: might take way longer and there is a lot of issues you might encounter depending on your distro...

Very soon it will be part of the official Mesa package in NixOS, the process to enable it has been merged into the codebase and is waiting to land in unstable likely in the next couple of weeks, meaning no unofficial packages or lengthy patches will be needed when 24.0.1 reaches the unstable branch. For now, you'd have to write an override to enable NVK in your config and recompile Mesa with that flag.

@@Jimjamforreal1 Yup, says it's been merged into staging for a few days now. How long does staging usually sit before getting merged?

@@vagrant1943 Seems to fluctuate between releases, big projects like Mesa get moved a bit slower to iron out any standing bugs or problems with the config but I wouldn't expect it take any longer than 2 weeks from now to land given Mesa's Nix source hasn't had anything merge into it for about 3 weeks already in unstable while they prepare to move staging in. But my guess is still very soon.

@@vagrant1943 It's been merged into unstable! If you're on stable like me you can enable it with an unstable package using hardware.opengl.package = pkgs.unstable.mesa and such if you've got an unstable branch set up in your config. If you're on unstable, it should just work!

It likely worked on Cachy before Arch, given its bleeding-edge kernels. Any kernel above kernel 6.6 supports the new nouveau drivers, and Cachy has all the same access to the AUR that Arch does (Cachy isn't a Manjaro situation). So everything should work!
