You can also use G29 in GCode to auto level before printing but I recommend the M420 S1 recall instead of G29 in Start GCode since it allows you to easily do two color prints without worrying about the probe hitting the first print. This was a question from a previous video.
@ckleanth3 жыл бұрын
Yup but also 1) you don't really have to auto mesh every single time you print (save time) 2) less wear on the machine

Agree. Just do it once and then save it like I showed in video. Then recall it with M420 S1 in Start GCode like I showed. Only do a new level when you want.

Not a bltouch issue but all of a sudden my ender 3 pro has stopped sticking to bed and I cant figure out why. Nothing has changed. No firmware, new filaments or cura updates installed. It printed fine now womt stick to bed even after trying to relevel. It just blobs up around nozzle. Tried more/less height. Tried more/less heat. Tried drying filament from moisture. Tried a few brands of isopropyl to clean any residue from bed. I have a glass creality bed and it was working fine. All of a sudden not sticking cant print anything.

Thanks a lot for this video. I had the BLTouch set up the older way by replacing the Z-stop and getting the bed levelled was such a pain. The Jyers f/w is such a find. I had to rewire the BLTouch to use all 5 pins (which wasn't obvious at first and I was wondering why it was not Z-homing), but then it all fell into place. Amazing work and I am going to go over and try to support their efforts via Patreon / Paypal.
@garethvantonder7823 жыл бұрын
Just a quick tip for others who might be struggling w/ this issue; When purchasing the BLTouch from ANTCLABS instead of Creality 3D, you'll sit w/ two sets of combined pins instead of a singular plug-in type. These you'll have to glue onto the bus port exterior w/ hotglue. Make sure your rainbow / screen bus cable is unplugged and out the way, then ONE AT A TIME, glue the 2-pin one into the top, white top and black bottom. Hold the pin against the board whilst the glue cools down and give it a few minutes. Do the same thereafter w/ the three pin, gluing so that the brown pin is right at the bottom. This is glued into the dedicated BL-T bus port, the vacant one adjacent to where your Z stop switch is plugged in. Failure to perform this correctly will likely result in your servo / blue light not coming on when you switch your E3-V2 on and when auto homing, your nozzle will drive into your glass bed. This is the problem I had - initially I tried shortcutting by gluing both pin sets in simultaneously, resulting in one or two pins not connecting to the board. I haven't yet found anyone on the internet pointing this fault out in this way, so hope it helps.
@garethvantonder7823 жыл бұрын
EDIT - the servo light not coming on was my problem and I've seen others likewise report the issue of their nozzles driving into their printing bed surfaces. If your BLTouch is not malfunctioning, that is to say, your setup not yet being ready to advance to the calibration stage, then check your connection. Also check your wiring and make sure your cabling avoids that revolving z-rod. Slice a small-ish hole into the cable netting. I used one of my smaller allen keys to goad the terminal along which plugs into the BLTouch module, works really easy, just make sure your allen key isn't catching on the netting whilst prodding. When far enough, pull the netting altogether - it can shrink quite a bit, then take your terminal out and plug back in. I wouldn't necessarily use copper wire to pull the terminal through, as its tip may have a sharp / bevel edge

Jyers' 1.3.1 firmware update adds a lot of very nice features, particularly in comparison to the stock Creality firmware. I'm not in a hurry when printing, so I use G29 in the start G-code to re-do bed leveling at the start of each print. That way if I've bumped things such as the glass bed or a bed leveling screw, that change is accounted for. Yes, it adds time to each and every print. Yes, it means the bed is leveled and is level for each and every print. A reasonable trade-off to me. Thanks for the video!

Just a heads up. Installed a BLTouch in my Ender 6 a couple weeks ago and was tearing my hair out because it would only intermittently work. It would attempt to level the bed, get a random number of points in and just error out. Turns out there's a small hex screw in the top of the BLTouch that allows you to adjust the amount of force it requires to drop the pin. I turned mine about a quarter turn and haven't had a single failed probe since.

Auto bed leveling is a MASSIVE quality of life improvement for printers. I wouldn't recommend anybody try and do it manually because even thought it's possible, it's far easier to just use ABL and be guaranteed decent 1st layers. Biggest issue with it is you really need to rebuild the firmware to tweak how many points it probes and their offsets.

Since it is not directly supported I postponed the installation and then I started to wonder. Today I do not see the need for automatic bed leveling. I have not re-leveled my printer bed for ages. Thanks CHEP for this video. I've been using the Jyers firmware for awhile now. Very happy with it and the features he's adding into the menus. It's also being actively worked on, I noticed he's just released a new v1.3.2 build two days ago. Time to get out that sd card :) There's also a huge advantage to using the Jyers firmware, notes from his WIKI "A lot of the benefits ExtUI are to do with how it is coded. The original code for the E3V2 display required many, many additions to the marlin base code specifically for that display. As you can imagine this is a very inefficient way of coding a display. ExtUI allows for display functions to run off the same UI calls and functions that any other display would use, making it not only more efficient to program, but much better connected to the Marlin UI system." "Due to the fact that ExtUI allows much better implementation of Marlin functions into the display, the new firmware behaves much more like other popular LCDs. This includes status updates in the status area for Marlin events and M117 messages as well as a more robust popup system, especially for user confirm actions such as M0 and M600 commands."

Yes, you are missing something. Even though it doesn't physically level the bed, it creates a virtual model of the print bed and it will adjust the height of the extruder while printing thus simulating a level bed even if it's not physically level.
@keithschaub78633 жыл бұрын
@@leo-hao Not my experience at all so far. Personally, I don't see the value in the BLTouch at all. So, let me get this straight. You manually level to begin with. Then determine a z-offset, then create a mesh, then fine-tune while it's printing (again manually). Err, how is the BLTouch helping at all? I never used the BLTouch for almost 2 years. Now with the BLTouch I have to manually calibrate with twice the effort and inferior results. If it actually worked, and auto-tuned the extruder up/down based on the mesh, then it should work and one should not need to do so much manual calibrating. For example, he had to 'fine tune' AFTER the mesh. Why? Makes no sense.

Do not use the current BLTouch firmware on the Creality site ( thanks for the firmware links to Jyers ), it leaves you in a state where you can change the Z value and it isn't close enough to print. If you adjust the Z-offset, and home, it changes the Z-move by the same amount, with zero net effect on the physical position. grrrr.
