Installing the BYD Dash Cam is pretty easy and straightforward if we have the right tools. Watch this video where I show the tips on installing the dashcam. Installing the proprietary BYD Dashcam allows us to capture driving information as part of the footage. Check out the 1080p footage at the end of the video. This dashcam will fit BYD Seal, BYD Atto3 and BYD Dolphin.

@SkyPerspective - you still have the protective cover around the edge of rearview mirror (which is only meant for transport) - when you remove that the frameless mirror looks much nicer.

Yes, when the road is uneven or when there are road bumps. Doesn't vibrate much if I am on good highways. Why did you ask? Is yours vibrating?

Yes. Has only 600 km now. Quite wierd. For 10 km at 100-120 km/h was ok today, then the steering wheel starts to vibrate.

@rogernelson1171 Hmm doesn't sound right to me. Perhaps get BYD to check it.

@@rogernelson1171 it could be a sign that the wheel bearings, tie rod ends, or ball joints are damaged. Or if it happens when you are braking it could be that the car has warped brake rotors. Or could be unbalanced tires. Should get it checked out as soon as possible because that should not be happening with a brand-new car

Did you get a "smart guard" app available in the BYD store (in car) after installing the camera?

@@SkyPerspective Don't know - read somewhere on Reddit that it should become available after installing the camera, but the same user said he hadn't installed it himself so was just wondering. My seal is still 7-8 weeks away

Attention: Newer seals came without the cable and a (difficulty to remove) plug for the camera hole I heard. And sometimes the rear view mirror fells off (easily to mount again when you know how). And 32 GB is very small. My 128 GB only lasts for a month.

Wow, thanks for sharing such useful information. Yes, better to check our Seal before we buy the camera. Now I am curious what the newer seal looks like inside the housing. Hope someone can share a photo or video or something.

Nope, unfortunately not. Starting the air con to remote start the dashcam might be a convenint side effect BYD was not expecting when designing the dashcam.

See 11:52, on the left side of the connector, there is a stripe of jagged plastic. At the end of this plastic strip, there is a protruding catch that will click into the hole of the blue connected on the camera. To unplug the camera, we need to use a pin to push in this catch and pull the connector backwards.

@@SkyPerspective I put cable in white slot, when I placed in blue slot it worked and Dash cam app shows. When in white slot a camera app shows but no pictures, Do you know what this camera app is for?

It's for recording events happening in front of our cars in case there is an accident.
