Great video. When I was a kid, we built a house. None of this stuff even existed -- except sheetrock. No hoists. No screws. No electric screwdrivers. We've made great progress in the intervening years. Now I am repairing a ceiling and trying to figure out the best way to use the hoist. I'm grateful for this video. (Needless to say, there was no KZfaq in those days either.)

This was so helpful. I’m doing a 10x12 shop and the drywall estimate was $1100. I can do it with the lift for around $250!! Sweet! Can’t wait to try it tomorrow.

Later in life I discovered the drywall lift. I have helped my dad with what seems like 1000 drywall projects and he always made me hold it up with brute force!

Jeff great video I bought a lift at HF I used it to help when changing the duct work to a low profile design to gain head room and now I am going to hang 40 sheets of 5/8 so yea for a one man show it is necessity not a option.

Renting one of those today. Thanks for showing me how to use one. I noticed you done use any adhesive for the ceiling. I was told by a few drywall veterans to use adhesive. And screws, of course.

Very helpful video but (always hand the ceiling FIRST) then when you push the wall board up tight to it, it provides better support for the ceiling edges.

That tool really comes in handy for one person installing sheet rock panels in the ceiling, and I will remember that if I have to install them at home again. Because I am not a professional at this I looked at how I could do this myself when I had one room which needed new panels put up. In the end I ended up hiring a professional to install the panels and do the rest of the work needed to straighten up the damaged area.

I had to unload a truck with 226 sheets of drywall, 8,10, and 12 footers. My right arm is now 2” longer than my left. Home Depot would have delivered for a dollar a sheet but no........the company I worked for wasn’t going to pay that. Instead they sent me and a helper to go to Home Depot pickup drywall and the mud and tape, drive to the house and unload it. Took us all day with driving, unloading and driving back.@ $50.00 an hour for both of us. $450.00 BBD (Brilliant business decision).

I looked at a lift today identical to this one. $30 a day. Ceiling caved in due to a leaky roof. I've only got two 4 x 8 sheets to put up. I can't afford to hire anyone to do this, so I'm going to try it myself. Thanks for the video.

Same here we have a outdoor patio screened in with old regular drywall which some caved in so I took the whole thing down,it is a flat roof.Once the roof is done I will use that machine,I will need about 8 sheets,but I will buy greenboard and put that up.I have one coming from Walmart about 159.00 instead of renting,I could always sell it when I am done.

if you start with the sheet on the floor, then just lean the top onto the hook, then pick up the bottom of the sheet allowing it to pivot in the arms, you never have to pick up the whole sheet. I just did it on my project. I really didn’t want to pick up a 75 pound sheet. The hooks are at the right height to do this, just position it correctly and lock the wheels.

Thanks for the video. I just rented one and because the store close saturday and sunday i get to use it for 3 days but was charged for one. The cost was 50 bucks including tax in sc. worth it.

Yep... great machine .... I bought one of these rigs last year as I'm lowering the ceiling heights (all nu joists etc.) to a std. 8' high.. its an old stone cottage here on the west coast of Ireland & working alone is a bitch at times... Cost me €160... Once the drywalls done , I needed to... Re-wire... Re-plumb... Install "wet" central heating... Re-slated roof... Yada Yada Yada ... There ain't nothing like learning on the job ... & a builder friend oversees my DIY efforts... 😎😎😎😎 BTW I also used the rig to raise 2 steel box beams... just 80mm square × 3mm thick on a 12'span so not overly heavy.. the lift worked like a charm 🙄🙄 Lovin the vids man !! ☘☘☘☘
