This is what I was looking for. I had the DRLs directly on the more fancy module, which shorted the right side due to water in the drl plug. Now I don't want to wait another 1+ month from china, and in my country I could only get a "smart" module that has one output (don't know why you would make it like that). And I could not decide how to split one module output in 2 DRLs. But seeing this I remembered I still have the driver that came with the DRLs. So I'll connect the single output from the "smart" module to that one, which will split to both DRLs. Awesome, thank you

T tap are very bad many problems with intermittent shorts. The soldering may take longer to do but when heat shrink does not cause problems. I will give it a go . Looks like easy instructions Thanks

Great work, thanks! One question, are you satisfied with the daytime brightness of the new DRLs(ie - do you think that drivers/pedestrians can see them at a reasonable distance)? On video, it’s sometimes hard to really know how bright they actually are. Thank you, your explanations of the controller answered a bunch of my questions. Cheers from Washington state!

Yes these DRL lights are bright and visible during daytime. You can see them illuminated from a distance.

Dude thank you so much, this video has been really helpful. I'm still confused about one thing, though. The DRLs I'm looking at have a seperate, amber sequential turn signal. Does that wire get tapped in directly to the OEM turn signal? From what I can tell from the DRL controller, the "turn signal" wire on the diagram (on the Amazon page) has to be a kind of input, that I think makes the regular drls flash along with the OEM turn signal but I'm not sure how to connect the turn signal so it will use the Amber sequential one. Also if you hook up the blue ACC light to ignition 12v do you need to connect the DRL controller to the battery?

If your DRL have separate sequential amber turn signal, then you can connect the white DRL LED wire to the DRL controller (as shown in video), and you wire the amber sequential turn LED positive wire to your factory turn signal light + wire.

Thanks for the great video. I installed the exact controller yesterday but when I turn on my turn signals my LED flashes with my turn signal. It’s suppose to turn off the LED to my knowledge. Any idea why that is? I have yellow to positive turn signal.

I have some sequential mirror turn signal DRLs. It came with a normal plug in and play connector but also has a white wire for the running white lights. Someone said I could jump the window switch wire to get the day time white lights to work. However, my car has auto headlight on and off feature depending on the outdoor lighting. I wanted the mirror running lights to run off the same function is there a way to jump the white into the column selector wire for “Auto” so it works the same way as the headlights go on or off based off ambient light?

It will work with any LED DRL light, but not LED headlight or fog light.

@@dial2fast I just installed the module but I can't get the lights to dim. Just a small flicker but not that 30-50% drop. If there's too much power from the lights will that prevent dimming? The fuse the module came with blew once I hooked up both lights, so I had to get a bigger one. Really appreciate the help!

@@batvon39 Sorry for the late reply. I am assuming you bought the iJDM DRL control module for the install. If you did, the white wire need to be connected to either parking light or headlight +12V wire. When this wire senses 12V (you turn on the headlight), then the DRL will dim. If your DRL is having problem turn on and staying on with ignition, then you may also need to connect the blue ACC wire from the controller to ignition 12V. If you have done all this and still having problem, you should contact the seller for further assistance.

My question would be if you bought aftermarket drl headlights that the drl is controlled by the marker light. Can you easily make it to where the drl is turned on with ignition?

That's what the drl controller does. And why you would need to tie the signal wire into acc or ignition power. For what im doing id rather just use the spare empty relay and fuse slots in my fuse box and do all my wiring in the fusebox. A lot cleaner and if the fuse or relay goes out I can just replace it with one I can get at any auto parts store.

Can I just ask: For power input im planning to tap the ACC on the stereo of the car, and the white wire to 'illumination' on the stereo as well, instead of to the headlamps. Do you reckon it would work? I'm thinking what we need is a 12V to the white wire when the lights are on, im guessing the illumination does that right? Also the ACC on my stereo has already been tapped to power my Steering control module. Im worried if i tap it again, it would result in voltage drop? Thanks in advance for any advice!

Hello Malaysia! I visited there many years ago in KL and JB. Miss the food. You can use the stereo illumination wire to trigger dimming of the DRL. You can also use the stereo's ACC wire to power the the DRL light BUT make sure that circuit can support all the accessories that's being powered. The DRL light will consume about 300-500 mA. You are not going to have a voltage drop, but if the circuit can't support all the devices, you will either have a fuse blow or wires heating up and melting (fire). Also keep in mind doing it this way require you to run the wires into the vehicle which I personally find it more work. It's up to you but try to keep the wiring clean and safe.

Actually the reason why i wanna tap the stereo is because I could tap onto the added ISO socket, so that the original wiring remains unaltered. But yea I might drop this idea considering the fuse issue. Just out of curiosity, may I also ask if you know why would some people connect constant 12v to power the controller when the ACC already suffices? It doesn't really need to remain on to retain memory (like the stereo) or anything right? Is it because they wanna delay the turning off of the drl after key off.

@@tzershernkhaw The reason for connecting the DRL controller to 12V constant is simply ease of install. You can connect the DRL controller red wire direct to battery +, and connect black wire to chassis ground. This way you don't have to waste time looking for ignition wire. By connecting direct to 12V constant, the DRL light will turn on only when ignition is turned on and voltage rises past 13V (does not turn on at 12V). The DRL will turn off automatically when ignition is off, and voltage drops past below 13V with a delay of about 20-30 seconds before DRL light turns off. I personally don't like having that delay in turning off the DRL (I think it looks weird and gives it an aftermarket look), so connecting to ignition 12V will give you instant on and instant off with ignition.

Great instructions I purchased thru Ebay new LED Lights for my Audi Q7 2009 and at night it turns White and the signal changes to orange. I want to use the White LED to stay on all the time that way I don't have to turn on the night lights during the day. What I need to buy in order to use the front bumper LED's as Daytime running light with no Dim.? Thanks Auggie

If you want it to stay on white when you drive, then just connect to ignition 12V. So when you start your car, it will turn on, and off when it turn car off.

I have a question, I am an electrician and use a multimeter daily, what is the device you have clamped on the ACC wires to measure relay voltage called? and where can I find one like you are using? must penentrate the wires with the alligator clips in order to get the wire inside the insulation.

You can wire it directly to ignition 12V, but usually you want to the DRL to dim at night because it's too bright for night time.

I have a question sir . I have an existing fog light switch with relay and top it on ignition. And I want to use this as a drl switch. I trace the connection red wire goes to the firewall and both have a Blk wire that tap on body ground . The problem is , I bought the drl harness with module dimmer . It say on the diagram the red wire with fuse should tap on directed to positive of batt. And Blk wire neg of batt . The blue wire (ACC) where should I tap ?. On the red wire of the fog light switch ? Or should I ignore the blue wire. Or maybe the red wire with the fuse I tap directly on the positive of the fog light switch that goes on the firewall ? Thanks in advance

I need a system that will Turn DRL "only" when the lights are Turned to "Parking Lights". Can the yellow blue wire be used for that feature? Other wise I want the lights to turn on when engine starts, off when shut off -after X seconds and dim when Headlights turned on.

I have a Ali express Mazda 6 drl set which does constant on and turn signals. The bezels run to a box that lets out a red, black, blue and 2 grey wires. I need someone to tell me where exactly to wire these too. I’m guessing black to negative , greys are prob indicators.. haven’t a clue where to wire red or blue

Yes you can get power from the fuse box with ignition 12V, then it will turn on/off with the ignition.

@@dial2fast thank you much Sir, one last question the drl controller has a fuse to it. Should I put also fuse on the fuse tap like 5a or lower? I dont know how much is the ampere of the fuse on the drl controller. I will input the piggyback fuse tap to an empty slot of my fuse box with 12v on it.

Even if there is a fuse on the DRL controller, you can still use the fuse tap on the fuse box. For regular LED DRL, 5A (or 10A) will work fine. The 'LED DRL' light itself won't draw more than 1A (assuming that's what you are using for lighting). A rule of thumb when it comes to the placement of a fuse is there should always be a fuse closest to the power source (in your case, it's the fuse box, so using a fuse tap is ideal)

Good day. Can I just directly tap the drl control module red (positive) wire into the factory drl light positive wire to power it? I'm just not comfortable to tap the wire from the fuse box.

There is a positive wire to power drl then there are either one or two trigger wires to 12v pos. The trigger wires allow module to sense 12v to dim drl OR turn them off depending on module. Hence if for instance on this model the trigger wires are turning triggering off and on response to 12v from signal being intermittent due to turn signal relay. If you trigger wire is tied to constant 12v source they will stay on all the time so no you cant tie the 12v battery supply wire to module to trigger wire or they wont turn off HOWEVER if you tie 12v trigger wire to an accesory like cigarette lighter fuse they should turn off IF you cig lighter circuit turns off when you shut off ignition. There are circuit add ons to allow you to plug a blade into positive side of fuse circuit to add a line. Auto parts store has them.

the blue wire goes to keyed ( only hot when turned on) and will make the lights come on with out starting the engine OR if you start the engine and they will not come on , then you have to hook the blue wire to keyed power . For some reason, some vehicles will not trigger the unit when the engine is started ( or say you have a hybrid where the engine stars and stops....... if your engine is going back and forth your lights would turn on and off, the blue wirre to a keyed source fixes that ( or so it seems or should ) . I have not heard anyone else say this about hybrid use but I can't be the only person who thought about this .....lol...I'm just a retired firefighter, you know, put the wet stuff on the red stuff....lol.

If you want to connect the turn signal 12V (so your DRL will flash alternately to the turn signal), then you have to connect the left turn signal for the left DRL, and right turn signal for the right DRL.

Ok I’m on cycle 12 of this video. Mine doesn’t have a separate power supply. All wires are on the DRL controller. So I have a red & black (tye red with fuse on it)- that red goes to then 12v fuse correct? Then I have the to wires that connect to the LED via snap connect - I’ll connect those. They both have a yellow turn signal- I’ll cut this off. Then I have a white wire- I’ll connect to my parking light positive. Then I have a green wire that flashes so I’ll cut that off. Last, I have a blue wire that control the dimming function. Can I splice that wort the red wire that has a fuse on it, I hope you get me

If you have a similar DRL controller, and you connect the controller's red wire to battery 12V, then it will turn on the LED DRL when you start your car, and there will be a delay in the shut off. If you don't like this, then you can connect the controller's red wire to ignition 12V. The white wire can be connected to your parking light if you want to use the dim feature to dim your LED DRL when you turn on your headlight.

or you can hook the white wire up to the low beam power , then they are half bright with low beam, and will come on full brightness with high beam, that's how I have mine wired.

You have to check with a multimeter to see if the parking light fuse in the fuse box is constant 12v or is switched on only when parking light is on.

I've had mine installed for a year but I had my ground wire directly into the negative port of my battery. I then placed it on a bolt inside the bay near the nearside headlamp. There's now a buzzing and clicking and they no longer come on?

That ground bolt you are using is not a good ground. You might think a metal bolt in the car is ground but not always the case because the panels on cars are glued and spot welded. Also many people don't know steel is not the best conductor compared to copper. To truly find out if the ground is good, you should use a multimeter to test the bolt. Or you can just try another ground bolt.

How, where and why do you have a ground wire when the instructions for the “iJDMTOY (1) Universal LED Daytime Running Light Automatic ON/OFF Controller Module Box Relay” doesn’t even have instructions for it? It doesn’t even show or have a ground wire. Is this a different product than the link you provided?

@@ryanoswald5506 Negative (black) is ground on modern vehicles.......at one time back in the day , there were cars and trucks that were positive ground (red) . a GROUND simply means that everthing metal on the car ( chassis) is the negative black , or a GROUND........the black negative battery terminal is a ground .........And this is not to ever be confused with House current ( 110v/120V etc where Green is ground. if you use a black wire for ground in house current you will have a shocking experience , pun intended.

Because a properly working DRL should have dual brightness. Bright for daytime, and dim for nighttime. If that's something you don't need, then connect to the ignition 12v fuse.

You can hook it up to ignition 12v so it turns on/off with ignition.

I'm gunna throw a spanner in the works of a DRL installation. In New Zealand & under current vehicle by-laws & what we colloquially call a WOF (vehicle, Warrant of Fitness) when you go to turn on your side lights/mains etc your DRL/s must actually switch off automatically & not merely just dim in visual power output!! It is therefore illegal to have both your DRL/s & your main lights (high or low beam) on. You can have one or the other (DRL/s or mains) but not both switched on at the same time. If you are going for a WOF at the time you will be rejected as I was!! No WOF means you cannot use the vehicle on a public highway period!! So I'm looking for a suitable wiring diagram to cover this scenario & any help or assistance would of cause be most appreciated. I'm no auto electrician but I'm not green behind my ears either & have a reasonable understanding of basic vehicle systems. I've actually completed a wiring diagram to cover this requirement but would like to compare it with somebody else!! Any takers please???

yeah the pair that look like upside down check mark are the day time running lights for the pathfinder but he did say if you want an extra pair or if your vehicle did not come with any at all. But you're correct the pathfinder already has day time running lights equipped.

I wish that I had seen this before I purchased my DRLs and the controller. I didn’t know that you could get a controller with two outputs. I’m having to make two outputs from one, or purchase a second controller. Waste of my money.

That would be a big fat FAIL for the annual vehicle test in my country. The DRL units you fitted overhang / foul the fog lights. Obstruction of lamps designed for safety in bad weather conditions.

Hi man . I hope you will help me to find the right solution for me. I want the transformer or the regulator of the LED light, which in turn reduces the LED lighting from 100% to 50% when the light is turned on in the dark or at night. Or the organizer to buy it online if possible ❤️🫶🏻
