Good tutorial, but I do have to point out a huge mistake. The most important thing when installing flooring is the prep work. That includes Scrapping floor, cutting door frames and vacuuming before you start installation. If any debri from the door casing or door frame as you called is left under flooring it will crunch when stepped on. Prep is the most important for good flooring job.

If planning to do an entire house. Do you think it’ll look better if the pattern is going the same direction throughout the house?
@renoforless
@renoforless 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Cody, it will look better if you can install them in the same direction all throughout the house. However, this can be difficult if you don't have much experience. If you do decide to change directions and add floor transition between room, make sure to install the laminate parallel to the longest side of the room.

When installing additional rows, I am having trouble getting the short end to click because I cant click in both ends at the same time (somehow it looks like your doing that in the video in the time lapse). I click the long end first which leaves about a few cm for me to tap in on the short end but it doesnt budge and I end up damaging the groove pieces from the constant tapping
@renoforless
@renoforless 3 жыл бұрын
I recommend clicking in the long end first, but before doing that make sure the short end is right against the other laminate (on the left). So once you click in the long end, all you would need to do is use a block and hammer in the short end. I hope that helps, it's difficult explaining through typing
@ltran25
@ltran25 3 жыл бұрын
@@renoforless thanks. I figured out I have to use a small scrap block that can interlock with the end, then use the block to tap that scrap, so I damage the scrap and not the actual laminate. Not something that I've seen anyone do on youtube but it was on the instructions so I guess my particular laminate is very delicate?

Is it possible to do this on carpet? My studio has carpet and I don’t think I can rip it up
@renoforless
@renoforless 2 жыл бұрын
It's not recommended to install laminate on carpet because carpet is usually too plush or soft. However, if you have a very thin carpet and have no other choice than it may work. You can consider laying plywood on top of the carpet first.

Idk if you’re still active on this but i got 2 question cause I’m installing laminate flooring in my room 1. I had nails in the cement and pulled them out and some concrete got pulled out from the nails, do i have to get some cement leveler or something to level the cement out of the something like that or does it not matter cause I’m gonna put some floor underlayment 2. Once i ripped out my carpet there is a little gap, between the floor and the wood casing, do i just put the laminate flooring under it or should i get a shoe mold to cover it up?
@renoforless
@renoforless 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for reaching out. 1. If the amount of concrete that was pulled up is minimal and the dip in the cement isn't a large surface, it may not be necessary to use a cement leveler. 2. Usually after ripping the up carpet I would removed the baseboards and install the laminate near the wall and place the baseboard on top of the flooring. If you don't want to remove all the baseboards, you can put the laminate up to the baseboard and add shoe molding/quarter rounds. Hope this helps!

@flyingburritobro68 2 жыл бұрын
Nice video but just about every manufacturer I have seen states that you need to install the underlayment perpendicular (at a 90 degree angle) to the long sides of the boards. Your underlayment should have been installed in the other direction as you installed the underlayment and flooring the same way. I wouldn’t staple the underlayment as you did either. It is to be taped completely at each seam covering the entire seam. Suggestion - don’t use that 20 dollar a roll cheap foam underlayment. Use the 50 dollar roll stuff like Quiet Walk. Much superior product.

When you remove the spacers won't the floor move?
@renoforless
@renoforless 3 жыл бұрын
No they won't move when many pieces are stuck together due to the weight. The spacers are used so that the laminates aren't right up against the wall. The laminates can expand slightly so that extra space is necessary.

@TheToxicTank
@TheToxicTank 5 ай бұрын
I don't know the brand being used but many vinyl laminate plank manufacturers warn to not use underlayment. They have a built on rubber underlayment pad on the planks. Using your own in addition to this will not only make the process. Ore frustrating but also void the warranty. Check with your brand/manufacturer. I of course do not care what people do.
