Learn how to install LED Lighting in any PC case using LED strips.
The process is very simple ant the tutorial is easy to follow.
F.A.Q.
// Which LEDs am I using?
// I had this cheap roll of LED strip laying around that I bought from a local hardware store. It's a single coloured 12 V led strip.
// Which LED Strips can be used?
// Any strip as long as it runs at 12 volts DC and requires only 2 power connections (12V and Ground).
//Can you use RGB LEDs?
//It Depends, if the strip has a controller at one end to control the current and only requires power no data signal, then you can use it. But if it has 4 contact points that need to be connected than this method won't be sufficient.
//Can you turn the Lights on and off?
//The LEDs turn on when you boot up your PC and turn off when you shut down.
If you wish to keep the LEDs off while the PC is on then you will have to physically unplug the wires from the Molex Connector.
//Do you need the Jumper wires?
//NO. My power supply's Molex power line came with the female header at the end which makes the jumper cables a perfect fit but if you don't have jumper cables or the female header at the end of the molex connection wire then you can simply connect normal wires to the molex connector.

Thanks for the video. One question. I understand that you are using the yellow wire from a molex connector (12v). How come at 1:00 in the video, you connect the red cable from the LED strip to a yellow "jumper cable". Shouldn't the LED strip have a yellow cable (instead of red/black) as well since it's 12v? Thanks for your time.
@ggnomix4089
@ggnomix4089 7 жыл бұрын
Also, at 0:50, it looks like the original wires coming from the LED strip are white/black. So it seems like colors alone are not a good indicator of voltage? In this video there is seemingly a white 12v wire from the LED strip, and a yellow 12v wire from the molex connector.
@LiveSparks
@LiveSparks 7 жыл бұрын
+GG Nomix the molex connectors are color coded universally, so the yellow wire will always be 12v. There is no universally accepted color code for led strips. I just used the jumper cables that had been previously damaged, it was a coincidence that it was yellow. The color for the strip doesn't really matter as long as the connections are correct.

@LiveSparks

Molex itself doesn't connect to the motherboard. There should be a really big connector for the motherboard from the PSU. The molex gets power when the motherboard turns on.

dude.. RGB Strips requires 12V at max 1-2 amp of current but you have connected it to the molex which indeed provide 12 volts but it has over 30-50 amp of current depending of the smps models. that would damage the LED/RGB strip... wont it?
@LiveSparks
@LiveSparks 4 жыл бұрын
No. Any electronic device won't draw anymore current than it requires as long as the supplied voltage is within it's ratings.

I tried do it multiples ways, a camera flash just makes everything darker. You really need a big video production light that I don't have.

+Abdul Munam For the LED connection look for the molex power connector. It will be the one which has four wires coming out of it.(red,black,black,yellow)

i love computer engineer and i myself want to be a computer engineer. what kind of power supply did you use ? Did you use the one that has additional pin connectors for gaming graphics cards
@LiveSparks
@LiveSparks 7 жыл бұрын
+Abdul Munam I has the PCI-E power connectors but that doesn't matter. It only needs to have molex power connector which almost every computer power supply has.
