Hey, thanks for this, man! My muffler just crapped out after about 4 years, and my work schedule doesn't really allow me to get work done by a professional I can fully trust. However, I drive a 94 GMC Sierra C1500, and it being so old has gotten me into replacing more and more parts on my own (completely uncomplicated under the hood). I'll take another look at my exhaust system, and I'm hoping this works! I just might need a grinder to make those cuts.

It’s a vehicle that lends itself to diy. Parts are readily available, affordable and somewhat easy to replace.

To help save your frame because it looks like it's starting to rust you should scrub it and spray some like rustolium I think is what it is prob wrong spelling but it will help out out a lot! Sweet video!

Galvanized mufflers? I dont think so. its aluminized. Safe to weld. The only problem is once you weld it the heat melts away the aluminized coating and leaves bare steel exposed to the elements. Which is why his old one broke at the weld.

your muffler is kinda short, so it makes me think it wasnt a factory muffler, was it? Mine is just HUGE, but the Ram I drive is pretty quiet.

So how would I go about installing a new, smaller muffler? I have a 2002 Nissan Xterra and like kluk666 said, the muffler on SUV's and trucks are gigantic, and I know a smaller one would definitely require some kind of modification.
