Got my pie kit today .....printer comes tomorrow. It's all set up waiting for the pi cam and printer to both come tomorrow. Needed octoprint to make changing out my extruder to make sure I get the new steps right....and the ease of not having to keep xfering that flash drive was enough of a reason to pull the trigger....bonus for viewing/adjusting on the fly from anywhere and the time lapse videos are....mesmerizing af.

Another great video with detailed explanation 👍 another way to load a gcode file to octopi, is to drag and drop the file from the computer, to the left hand side of the octopi screen. This will then upload the gcode file to the current folder directory that your in, on the octopi.

I had tried setting up my pi a few weeks ago with no success, I tried again following this video and still could not get my computer to recognize my wifi pi. I connected directly to the modem and everything is now working fine! Thanks for the great video!

Couple things. If you hit ctrl-shift-X during the Pi install you can set your WiFi SSH etc without having to edit a text file. Instead of Etcher you can instead use the Pi Imager to get the Octopi distribution directly without any third party software installs.

Samsung have a High Endurance SD Card now that should be ideal for OctoPi. It is branded Samsung Pro Endurance, rated to last over 17,000 hours. About the same price as SANDisk cards in Australia and are Class 10. The other critical thing with Raspberry Pi is to have a good power supply. I really would recommend buying the genuine Raspberry Pi power supply or similar, especially if you add a screen to your Pi (like using Octoscreen) Poor quality PSU causes lots of undervoltage issues. Hey, I wanted to mention a small inaccuracy on how you describe the connectivity check at around 7:15. Octoprint by default will check for updates regularly. Enabling the connectivity check forces Octoprint to check for an internet connection first and only check for updates if it's connected to the internet. If the Raspberry Pi is always going to be connected to the internet, then you can leave it disabled. If it's not, then it's better to enable it to avoid checking for updates when it's not connected to the internet. Enabling it while having a constant internet connection won't hurt anything, but it should be enabled if it won't to avoid it using up resources checking for updates and failing. Otherwise, I think the video is great, especially for users that are new to the Raspberry Pi.

Octoprint and Anet a8 running marlin 1.1.9, will it work well? Hi Daniel - firstly thanks for your great channel. I want to add a BLtouch to my set up but they means sacrificing my SD card to make it fit on the board. This is where I started thinking of also adding Octoprint, but there are a lot of reports about slower poorer quality prints via Octoprint - what's your advise please. Thanks Andy😃

Is there a way for me to block the pi from powering the mainboard? Im setting up a relay to power on the printer from the pi and all is good so far. My issue is that darn undervoltage to the printer when it is not turned on. I want to leave the pi running all the time and only turn on/off the printer when needed. Thanks for this video. I am on a mac and cant get octopi local to work for me. I tried hard wiring into my router, and it works perfectly, just doesnt want to connect wirelessly. In your video you mention if octopi local doesnt work, you might have to enter in the IP address, however I cant find anywhere that I would put the address. Ive search the internet for answers and cant find a solution, would you be able to tell me where I would enter my IP so i can find my router? Thanks!

*NOTE* : For users of Pi 3B+ you also have to uncomment your country in the config file for your wifi setup. I spent about half an hour trying to figure out what was wrong - so hopefully it saves you time.

Hey, great questions! 1.) your Internet Connection is not needed during printing, so it doesn’t matter if it gets interrupted. 2.) This is possible in theory but requires a modified setup of multiple Octoprint instances on the raspberry pi.

you dont hvae to use echer, the raspberry pi foundation released a replacement for that, I have been using it a bunch and it helps me a bunch.

It's doable but this will result in some modifications on the software side. You will basically run two instances of Octoprint in parallel on different http ports. I did not try it yet because having two raspis is just easier to setup in the first place.

Do u not install r pi OS ? Only install octoprint on sd card then plug it in and use it like that ?

Raspi OS is Part of the OctoPi Image so you don’t need to install it beforehand

Hello, Just before the 7 minute mark, you hit "Keep acces controle Enabled" and you see a message appear at the top, that you are logged in. It doesnt appear with mine. Ive enterd a username and password is correct/matched in both boxes. But nothing happens when I hit the big blue button. How can I get going?

He opens it like you would any drive on WIndows. through the Windows Explorer which is built in and you should already always use to browse files. if your on a MAC I recommend looking up DR VAX he has an extensive tutorial on setting it up via MAC

I am following along with the video and once i get to flashing octopi on the raspberry i get failed to flash. Additionally you mention getting the IP briefly from your router. Unclear about this part.

You mean, when you run the flashing software to copy the files to the sd-card? If that fails, it's mostly a broken SD-Card. Also you should try to use the official imager tool from www.raspberrypi.org/software/ to copy the image to the sd. About the IP Address. If you're not sure, connect the Raspi to a monitor and keyboard and login. Then type "ifconfig" and you will see the IP address listed.

Okay, Its 2022 where can I find somebody setting up Octoprnt using windows? Every version I see they're using a Mac computer my windows is using 64 not 32 does that make a difference all the versions I've seen so far are talking about using a Mac.

For making my KZfaq videos I use the EOS R with the Canon 16-35 2.8 II L as A cam and for B-Roll the EOS RP with the Tamron 24-70 2.8

Do you mean the Linux ssh login? If you just forgot the octoprint ui login you can reset octoprint by stopping it and then deleting the .octoprint folder from the pi user home directory

Anyone? Following instructions, but if enter network octopi does not boot and try rebooting each time when fail, if comment network data, it launches successfully but of course with no internet (tested with monitor conencted to raspberry)
