Right on! Thanks for posting some detailed instructions. I just received material for my home in NorCal and i'm wondering if I need a 4" Bore 40 ton 24" throw cylinder, or if I could get away with a 3" bore? And do these get pressed to, and held at 3000 psi or 3500 psi? I've seen mixed methods and I know your cylinders were shorter; so i'm just curious what your feedback is. Thnx!

Really enjoyed the video. If the push pier brackets are not installed correctly can they do more damage than good? Just had a company install 6 and they didn't level a single one. Only prepped the footer/knocked the toe off on 3 of them. Did not anchor any of the brackets, they just bounced up and down with every pipe added.

The foundation of a home is so damn important. When your building on soft ground you really should go down until you hit solid bedrock. And use large footings and a shit load of steel! It's pricey to do it the right way and many of these new home builders go cheap on the most important parts of a home.

Awesome video! Having this done to my house in Northern Indiana on a lake property. Thinking these will go 30 to 40 feet. So cool they can do this and lift houses! Our house was built on black muck in the 1920's right against a channel on the lake...

@christopherkarczewski1978
@christopherkarczewski1978 10 ай бұрын
@@tifacola We did four 3” diameter Magnum Foundation Push Piers under our house. They quoted us $6,400 for those four piers. If any of the four went deeper than 30 feet deep, it was an extra $33 per foot per pier. Luckily they all stopped at 30 feet so it ended up being $6,400. The house is solid as hell now in that corner. The floors inside still needed some leveling and we are considering doing that next. That is Northern Indiana pricing from a small company. No idea what other more expensive states would charge for something like this.

Curious, I have a house that settled 4.5” on one side. Long story short we feel the original builder built over fill that trees were buried in. This is based on other information in holes along the property on the lawn showing up. With that being said if you raise the foundation back to level what is the steps to fill the void? I am assuming the interior slab will need to be cut out and all underground plumbing redone? Is there something they fill the void under the footings with? Thank you

What would happen if you had an existing push pier that had sunk about 2” only in one spot. Same mount.. but what would happen if you removed the shear screws that are attaching the bracket to the pier?? Without the ram attached and set..?? Would it shit it all up out of the ground or since its sank would there not be any pressure on the pier then?

great video, great work. i had geo piers and a sump system installed years ago in my poured foundation. the piers corrected the issue with hydro pressure. been dry as a bone in the basement. a new issue has been found. the east wall seems to be sinking a few inches now which has caused the sill plate(2x6) in a 10 foot section to stick out towards inside basement about 2"-2-1/2" . since its hanging off the edged of foundation would this system be used to correct my issue. thanks
@DalinghausConstructionInc
@DalinghausConstructionInc 5 ай бұрын
Are you saying that your footing is rotating inward? If so, then you will more than likely need some type of basement wall tieback application. Companies utilize helical anchors or wall anchors to correct this problem and rotate the wall back out. Here is an article that describes it www.dalinghausconstruction.com/blog/what-causes-horizontal-cracks-in-a-foundation-wall/

Why do some use brackets and others use concrete tubes with shims to support footing? Which is right?
@jacquelinepatterson4260
@jacquelinepatterson4260 Ай бұрын
Why wouldn't you put a strong plate on the first pipe to increase the size of the support foot print? Seems like the installation would have longer lasting results
@DalinghausConstructionInc
@DalinghausConstructionInc 16 күн бұрын
Because we're not worried about support footprint and instead worried about skin friction on the entirety of the pipe.. It may seem that way, but it's wrong and wouldn't have longer lasting results. Making a big plate on the bottom would mean there's no skin friction whatsoever on the entirety of the pile.. relying purely on that plate and pipe. Our way allows the 30+ feet of pipe to all be in contact with the soil creating skin friction that will support much much greater loads for longer periods of time.

With all that movement what happens to the wall beams and other structure of the house when you're lifting? Can they break or crack and then you would have to replace the beams in the walls?
@DalinghausConstructionInc
@DalinghausConstructionInc 3 ай бұрын
For the most part those wall beams and other structure settled with the foundation over the years, so it lifts back up during the lift process without issue. We definitely have to monitor everything during the repairs, but usually we just see cosmetic things like drywall cracks that were repaired now need to be repaired again because it was squished back together. In some very rare cases structural framing repairs had to be made prior to us beginning our repairs, but our repairs won’t affect the framing.

What do you pour or back fill with to fill the space under the foundation after lifting?
@DalinghausConstructionInc
@DalinghausConstructionInc Жыл бұрын
Great question!! We'll use a structural polyurethane expanding foam to fill the voids created during the lift process. It is significantly lighter than concrete, and it's compressive strength and expansion rate allow it support the slab for many lifetimes.

Great video. Question: The one thing I never see in these videos is the very first starter pc of pipe. Is it like a regular pc of pipe, open on both ends or is the starter pc capped off on the very bottom to provided a solid base? ...if it is open on the bottom what keeps the house from settling down and pushing that pipe further into the ground later? TIA
@DalinghausConstructionInc
@DalinghausConstructionInc Жыл бұрын
Great question Matt!! So the starter pipe is open ended and not capped off in any way... These piers are using skin friction to keep the house from settling or sinking any more. The pipe doesn't get pushed any further because we install to specific installation pressures or hydraulic PSI. The pressure they're installed to is significantly greater than the downward pressures the home is exerting on the foundation... This ensures the push piers aren't pushed further into the ground at a later time.

Do you install a flowable fill underneath the footings after the piers are set?
@DalinghausConstructionInc
@DalinghausConstructionInc Жыл бұрын
Not under the footings because they're adequately supported by the push piers, but if the home is a slab on grade then we will need to fill the voids created between the slab and the soil surface. We use a 2 part, expanding polyurethane foam for this process, and it's the same type of foam we use to lift and level concrete.
@danieltoth6119

What do you do about the space under the foundation after you have leveled it? Do you bring in a cement truck and pour more cement, or do you backfill it with dirt and aggregate?
@DalinghausConstructionInc
@DalinghausConstructionInc 5 ай бұрын
Concrete is really heavy.. So we wouldn't want to add more weight to a foundation that we've had to repair. Instead we'll use a structural, two-part, expanding foam called polyurethane that will fill the voids and support the slab after we've accomplished the lift!

Would you add a glue into the holes when you mount the brackets onto the foundation? I recommend all the bolts to be glued What kind of license do you need to have for this type of work
@DalinghausConstructionInc
@DalinghausConstructionInc Жыл бұрын
There's no need to glue the bolts on the bracket, in fact... the bolts are only there to hold the bracket in place until the push pier can be capped and bracket secured to it. With the footing sitting on the bracket like a person sitting in a chair, the bolts actually don't see any force/load once the push pier is capped 👍🏽 In California you need a C-61 / D30 - PILE DRIVING/PRESSURE FOUNDATION JACKING to do this type of work, though we have various licenses in California, Arizona, and Nevada.

Do wavy interior floors indicate bad foundations usually? What do you do if the foundations just started to crumble crumbling everywhere.
@DalinghausConstructionInc
@DalinghausConstructionInc 4 ай бұрын
It'll depend on whether the home has a raised foundation or a slab on grade foundation. Wavy floors typically can be attributed to the flooring itself, but if it is wavy under the flooring then it may be a foundation issue. Crumbling foundations are addressed on a case by case basis... sometimes the crumbling is just small arreas of spalling, that can be patched... but sometimes the crumbling is much worse then superficial spalling and requires either complete removal and replacement or something like a sister footing.

Had an estimate for installing 23 push piers for $59,000. Wanting to limit cost on older home, an option was to just do 1/2 of house for $34K. Will doing just the portion of structure most affected cause structural issues in the other side? Guy told me fixed side would take pressure off other side of house. Is this engineering science or bull?
@DalinghausConstructionInc
@DalinghausConstructionInc 5 ай бұрын
Depending on where the piers are going and how much settlement of the house it could stop some of the other movement. Typically, there is a section or corner of the house that settles that then, over time, will drag or pull the other parts of the house down with it. If you think of your house as a rigid box and you tilt one corner or the side it will also make other sections of the box tilt in that direction. Hope this is clear and makes sense. If not you can always reach out to us and we can chat with you about it.
