How to install setup and test Crucial T500 NVMe SSD

In this video I'm showing you how to setup, install and test the Crucial T500 NVMe SSD. This is a gen 4 PCIe NVMe SSD that's a replacement for the Crucial P5 Plus with improved specs. So here I'm going to show you not only how to install the drive at a hardware level, but also how to set it up in Windows, test it to make sure it's running properly and more.

nice video ,does the top gen 5 M.2 Slot always shares lanes with the top pcie x16 gpu slot no matter if you set it to gen 4 to use a gen 4 ssd?

Are the heat shields provided with motherboards (specifically MSI Z790-A Pro) enough to keep the drive cool or would it be better to get a drive with an integrated heatsink? Thank you.

all z790 mother boards will cap your pcie graphics card speed if you put a m2 SSD into the gen 5 slot, its not much but still you lose performance i think its better to install that gen 4 m2 in a bottom gen 4 m2 slot instead of the gen 5 m2. Your videos are amazing and helped me build my lian li dynamic evo xl

This board doesn't support gen 5. Surprisingly some of the new boards don't actually reduce the GPU either. I've been testing that lately.

@TheProvokedPrawn I have the strix b650 e-e and it's only the bottom gen 5 slot that half's speed top gen 5 slot doesn't. I'm only using gen 4s fury renegade in top slot for os and I just picked up t500 pro 2tb for games gonna install it in one of the gen 4 slots

Why USB-C recognition is not possible... For example.. When You want to upgrade firmware... (let's say example for a NAS system) ...You actually need to enter the drive in PCIe... Why there is no option to detect the USB-C related drives (EXAMPLE UGREEN case with NVMe M.2 drive containing T500 NVMe)... With the Crucial Storage Executive Will this option be added in the future?

Just put mine in my pc today. But when benchmarking the SSD in Crystal Benchmark I only get a read speed of 1661.49 (MB/S) and a Write Speed of 1624 (MB/S) as compared to your 7000 (MB/S) read and write avg. Any help would be great!

Interesting, I've just bought the T500, got everything set up so far, PCIe NVME x4, etc. and I'm only getting exactly half of your speed in CDM on a z390-E

Z390 only supports PCIe gen 3. Which tops out at 5000mbs if I remember correctly

@@simongraf6903 yeah sadly you'll need a much newer motherboard for full speed with that drive. Still, free is the best price.
