Great video! This weekend, I was able to install both of the Hampton Bay fans that I bought thanks to this video and the other one, so thank you. I should point out too that for an installation with 2 switches, connect the wiring as follows from the fan to the ceiling- black wire to black wire, blue wire to red wire, white wire to white/yellow wire, and then green wire to copper ground wire. I should also note that affixing the blade assembly to the fan once it’s wired and hung can be a real pain, but with this particular fan model, if you install the blade housings before you wire and install the fan, it’s much easier because all you have to do is slide the blades on when the fan is installed as opposed to wrestling with screws with 1 hand. Either way, great tutorials! You got right to the point and kept all of the information relevant.

@@ggadgreen1011 Make sure the blade arms are properly installed and completely tightened. Sometime a loose or incorrectly aligned blade arm can cause a grinding sound as they rotate because they'll scrape along the motor housing. If that doesn't fix the issue, we would suggest calling Hampton Bay customer service. Their team is pretty good at troubleshooting ove the phone.

I have the Hampton bay wellston 1 and I’ve had it for probably 10 years now and only recently it’s been making humming noises which is annoying so I am replacing it with a Hampton bay vaurgas

If assembling with close mount, what do you do with the green wires from the ceiling?

When mounting flush, there will be a green wire from the mounting bracket that would connect to the bare copper or green ground wire from the ceiling.

I am not using the light assembly. How do I cover the wires in the mounting bracket?

You can cap off any unused wires using a wire nut and a piece of electrical tape and then just tuck those wires in with the rest.

What do i do if my capacitor is burned because i tried to hire my buddy to do it and he had a light show going on and now with everything wired properly when i did it , the light works but the fan does not. i’m not sure if it’s the capacitor but the fan doesn’t work. Help

For this issue, we'd suggest calling Hampton Bay customer service at 1-855-434-2678. We do not keep the fans we install, so w can't send you anything regarding the capacitor wiring, but the customer service crew will be able to help you out.

If are are unsure of the wiring, we would suggest calling a licensed electrician. That being siad, a red wire is typically a switch wire. If that is the case, you can wire the fan speed power wire (black) to the house black and the light power wire (blue) to the red wire. That would allow you to turn the light on/off using the switch. You could also connect both the black and blue fan wires to the house red wire and cap off the black house wire which would allow you to use the switch to turn the fan and light on/off simultaneously with the switch.
