Is it possible to disable the light and still use the fan?
@ceilingfans101

The fan and light operate independently via the remote control. The fan does not have an option to be installed without the light kit. The fan can operate while the light is off.

Altura 2 and Altura? DC or not?? Reversing kit is in the lower base - not a receiver??? Any ideas?
@ceilingfans101
@ceilingfans101 Күн бұрын
The Altura family of fans has a variety of configurations. The 68" is available in either standard AC motor (Altura II) or with a DC motor (Altura DC). The 56" has a standard AC motor as does the 60 and the 48" versions. The 60 and 48" version have the manual reverse switch on the switch cup at the base of the fan. The 68 and 56" versions have the reverse function included in the remote control.

I followed your video , and installed it but it is wobbling, what could be the reason ?
@ceilingfans101
@ceilingfans101 7 күн бұрын
A few reasons for wobble would be: 1. loose blades - make sure all blades are completely tightened. 2. Improperly seated ball in the mounting bracket - make sure ball is seated so that the slot of the ball is seated on the tab in the mounting bracket (see the 7:58 mark). Loose downrod / fan connection. - make sure the downrod is screwed into the motor collar completely and that the set screw is completely tightened. Another reason for wobble could be a loose outlet box.

Is it possible to connect this to two switches, one for the light and one for the light
@ceilingfans101
@ceilingfans101 8 күн бұрын
Technically, yes, but it would require altering the wiring. We do NOT recommend doing this because of the color temperature changing light kit. To connect to 2 different switches, you would need to cut the fan's blue wire (light power) from the receiver plug. Then you could wire the receiver to one switch and the blue fan wire to the other switch. If you connect the light to a switch, you will lose the light control from the remote. The remote is the only way to consistently change the color temperature of the light. If connected to a switch, the light will change color temperature if turned off/on rapidly (within 4 seconds).

I can’t get the canopy off anymore after Installing
@ceilingfans101
@ceilingfans101 8 күн бұрын
There is an alignment post that may be stopping the canopy from twisting off. The alignment post is shown at the 3:23 mark. You have to loosen the canopy screws enough so that there is enough room for the alignment post to exit that hole and allow the canopy to twist off.

Hi, I recently installed a ceiling fan with a light that came with a remote. Everything went well, however the fan and the light only works with the remote and the wall switch is completely un operational . Would you know what could be the issue ?
@ceilingfans101
@ceilingfans101 11 күн бұрын
Typically, if there is a switch present, there would be 2 power wires in the ceiling - one would be a constant power wire (typically a black wire) and the other would be a switch wire (typically a red wire). Sounds like the receiver was just wired to the house's black wire.

If the light is connected to a switch, the light must be set to on using the pull chain (1 pull) prior to using the switch. If the light is not set using the chain, the light will not come on. Other than that, please check that all of the wiring is completely/correctly connected. If those tips do not resolve the issue, we would suggest calling Hampton Bay customer service (1-855-434-2678). Their team is pretty good at troubleshooting over the phone.

is it dc motor or ac motor
@ceilingfans101
@ceilingfans101 18 күн бұрын
It has an AC motor. In general, most fans still have AC motors, but if a fan has a DC motor it will typically be called out since it is an important feature.

I have a black wire switch for the fan. I also have a red wire switch for the light but in this model fan it only calls for the use of the black wire for both the fan and the light. What should I do with the red house wire just wire nut it off and not use the switch is my question?
@ceilingfans101
@ceilingfans101 18 күн бұрын
For this particular fan, we would suggest capping off the red wire. Please note that if the receiver is connected to a switch, the light color temperature may change if the switch is turned off/on too rapidly (typically within 4 seconds).

What about the red house wire I have?
@ceilingfans101
@ceilingfans101 19 күн бұрын
If your wiring differs from the manual, we have to suggest contacting a licensed electrician to ensure wiring is connected correctly. That being said, a red wire is typically a switch wire. If that is the case, you can use the house red wire instead of the house black wire. This would allow you to turn the fan and light on/off simultaneously using the switch. Please note that if connected to a switch, the light may change color temperature if the switch is turned off/on too rapidly (within 4 seconds).

Great video but small mistake at 7:52 - According to the setup instructions from Hampton - The screw is a 'set screw' and must go into the hole at the top of the down rod.
@ceilingfans101
@ceilingfans101 21 күн бұрын
Thanks for the comment. While the screw may thread into an optional extension downrod, the screw for this particular downrod does not and is more of a tension screw to hold the ball in place. If the screw ever comes out, the ball will still be held by the redundant safety bar that goes through the downrod.

@ceilingfans101
@ceilingfans101 22 күн бұрын
the installation is the same for s mounting on an angle. The only difference is the opening of the mounting bracket (where the ball of the downrod inserts) must face the peak of the ceiling angle so that the ball/downrod does not slide out of the mounting bracket.

Great video. One tip I’ll add is to test the power connections prior to installing the screws on the brace housing cover, just to make sure your wire connectors didn’t push the fan wire(s) out of place. If the fan and lights work, then you can go ahead and finish the cover installation!

I installed this fan in 3 rooms. Alllll the fans are affected by a remote from one in the other room. If someone's turns on the light or increases the fan speed in 1 room, the other 2 get affected. How can we make the remotes only affect the fans for the room it's specifically in??
@ceilingfans101

Each remote and receiver pair need to be set to a unique dip switch setting so that each remote only controls the intended fan. This is covered in detail in the video. Fast forward to the 4:06 mark "Preparing the remote and receiver"

Make sure that the slot of the ball is seated properly in the mounting bracket and that the set screw is completely tightened on the motor collar. The downrod should not move when the fan is operating. If that doesn't resolve your issue, we would suggest calling Hampton Bay customer service at 1-855-434-2678).
