I just replaced a Campbell Hausfeld unloader valve on my Central Pneumatic compressor and noticed that the rigid black nylon tubing didn't have a brass insert inside the tubing where the compression sleeve tightened down onto it. I thought that the worker that installed my unloader hose just forgot the brass insert. I see that this kit doesn't include brass inserts for the nylon tube either... is just putting a compression fitting on these hoses without the inserts a standard practice?

Thanks for the watch and for the question! To answer you, yes, it's not common practice for manufacturers to not install these brass tubing inserts for the nylon tubing, even though they should. We install the inserts to stiffen the ends of the tube when we install the tubing. This is a prefab'd kit from Campbell so we ship it as-is. In our opinion, however, it's certainly a good idea to install the brass inserts whenever possible.

@@MasterToolRepair Thanks for the info. If I have a problem with my nylon unloader hose I will just switch it to a copper or aluminum tube.

Can’t you just run a 1/2 inch T with 1/4 inch shut off ball valve 😊
