HOW TO INTRODUCE NEW EMPLOYEES TO BASIC DENTAL TERMINOLOGY!
For a full course for purchase: start.frontofficerocks.com/ne...
Watch this exclusive KZfaq video to find a basic overview of common terminology used for communicating in a dental office and Laura’s advice for introducing new employees to the words, phrases, and language commonly used in dental office team communications!
Are you the new employee on your dental team and ready to grow your dental terminology ‘database’?
Doctors, do you have a new employee in your front office in need of dental terminology training?
When it comes to new employees in the dental office, it is important to remember that working in a dentist’s office is often like working in a place they speak another language. We’ve all been in dentistry for a while now but that new employee may not have been.
Think about some of the words we use in the dental office! Words like endo, prophylaxis, bridge, a crown, and the many dental codes and procedures, these can all be very overwhelming and confusing to a new team member, and yes - possibly completely foreign to them!
There are going to be plenty of questions that your new employee may not think to ask because this is something brand new to them and as well, every dental office is different!
Listen in on this video to find out more about introducing new employees to the basics of dental terminology use, then join us at Front Office Rocks for further dental team training! frontofficerocks.com/dental-t...
The Take-Away: It may take time and it’s okay to not know everything right away!
Make sure to spend the time in the beginning with your new employees to train them properly and ensure they understand what it is that they are talking about and feel confident in their ability to talk to your patients.
How does your practice introduce new employees to the basics of dental terminology? Is there a favorite training video that you use, or a member of the team responsible for training your new employees? Tell us about it in the comments below!

Im so glad for this video. I got a dental receptionist job and was told that I will be trained. I had to make appointments and they keep telling me terms that I have no idea of and expect me to know. I just started and worked alone on Saturday and oh how suffering it was. Even the medical assistants are not even friendly, makes me want to quit. But I'm glad I got to learn online instead. This helped me so much more than the team I work with

Hi Laura, I wish everyone was more like you, I'm currently working in a dental office where they know I have no prior experience and they're expecting me to know everything with almost no training. I feel they reprimand me when I dont do something correctly. I watch your videos but its like you said every office is different. What would you recommend I do?

ThePinupbeat I’m glad that you’re Liking the videos. It sounds like you’re in a tough spot and I suggest that open communication is the best solution. I would recommend that you sit down with your manager or doctor and ask their expectations of you. Let them know what you need in order to do better in your job. Communication is always the best option. Good luck

Hi Laura, I agree with alot of these comments wishing there were more understanding people like you. I just started working in a dentist's office a week ago as a Dental Receptionist with zero experience. It is so overwhelming. Training is very poor. They keep telling me it will take time to learn. They are jumping me all over the place from answering the phone to checking in patients to scheduling all of which again I have no experience in. I want to learn and be successful but also feel like quitting at the same time. Any suggestions on how to approach employer about my concerns and are there online training courses for learning how to do the job? Thank you.

Just a suggestion. We don't "talk" English, or dental terminology, we speak it.
