If we taught kids that $400 invested monthly into the S&P 500 index (8% annual ROI) will grow to $235,000 after 20 years, $380,000 over 25 years and $560,000 after 30 years then we will have a lot less 20 year old making $35k and running to the Mercedes dealership to blow the money

Hi Brandon! I love watching your vidoes so much! Learned a lot, and still learning. I’m very new to investing and made my first TFSA on wealthsimple. I started buying Canadian dividend stocks from your suggestions, with just $300 as a start. I’m just curios how do I know what my average yield? Do you combine all the yield percentage from each stocks or do you take the yield % from each stocks to get the total?(I hope my question is not complicated).

Hey, perhaps a silly question... But how do you withdraw dividends without withdrawing the investment (ie: selling a share)? I've been under the impression that the dividend goes toward the share you hold but not to your, let's call it, "free cash" or "principal" account to be used later or withdraw when you need it. I'd love to get some clarification on this! Thank you guys, and Merry Christmas! 🎄⛄

This is how I do it. I call it the 3 pillars. I'm actually in a hole with the ETF SDIV. I was trapped in the "monthly cashflow" trap so buyer beware. REITS for 1-4-7-10, energy and banks for 2-4-8-11 and best in breed blue chips for 3-6-9-12. Theres exceptions to that pattern but it might save someone some research. Each pillar typically trades independently of each other too.

Was just wondering if anyone knows where I can find payout ratios for etfs, i've come across some pretty high paying etfs but they seem unreasonably high. Looked at a list of the highest paying dividend etfs in the us and their are about 16 at the top of the list ranging from 8% all the way up to a whopping 26%, I realize it's probably too good to be true but would prefer to confirm that or maybe see if there's still a potential strategy that can be used with them such as maybe holding them just long enough to recieve the dividend and then selling as soon as the price reaches a point where i'll still maintain most of my profits from the dividend. Will probably look into a similar strategy with canadian etfs as well to see if skipping the trading fee makes it more viable working with smaller trades.

Since you're taking money from dividends, does that mean you're also getting taxed on it? So say if I make $100,000K a year and also take a monthly amount of $500 from dividends, that makes my income $106,000? If so, is there a way to take your earnings without getting taxed?

I kinda disagree with the quarter dividends because it’s faster compounding if you get dividends every month while also contributing every month and the other plus is that when you invest monthly from dividends and contributions you will lower the risk of market volatility.

@archsilber6482
@archsilber6482 5 жыл бұрын
Zori, it will all depend on your investing capabilities, risk tolerance, goals, and strategies. Some have margin, non-registered, TFSA, and RRSP accounts all at the same time. It's important to know how each works especially in the area of taxation and interest level (margin). I have not personally tried a margin account and prefer not to invest this way. I guess margin accounts fall under non-registered investments which will not have the tax immunity feature like a TFSA or deferral treatment like RRSP. Happy investing!

I am not a fan of the staggered approach. I don't want to reject great stocks just because they pay their quarterly dividends outside of my staggered target. I don't care when their dividend payout dates are. If I get lots of dividend income one month and little the next it doesn't matter. I withdraw my high dividends in the high dividend months and put them in my savings account to fund my next months' needs.

Bad video. That is the 'how to pull the money' strategy not 'how to invest/generate for a steady income'. It is a waste to hold a mil $ into a 2% dividend stock when there are high div stock if the dividend is the main goal for the grow. No problem if they pay every quarter, the money just goes into the account and you can take what you need. I personally will invest for a 10-20%/yr grow and take the profit rather than dividends.
