No screaming, no excited or upset moods, everyone seemed to be pretty happy and willing to learn, and the ramps were empty. Not a bad situation for anyone! Looks like everything worked out just fine to me. Hey, we've all been there, couldn't have asked for better conditions, or nicer friends!

That had to be a family member that came to assist. Perhaps it was her Dad as the man had grey hair and appeared older. No matter who he was, he was able to get the trailer down the ramp and into the water, and then loaded the pwc onto the trailer. He had to be someone known to her and trusted by her.

That, and that the trailer is both low and narrow, makes it likely completely hidden from the driver when reversing in a straight line - even the guy who stepped in and eventually got the trailer in the water appeared to struggle a bit, and ended up a fair bit further to the right than he ideally would have been. Short trailers definitely can be difficult. Vision is another issue with them on most vehicles - that's why I actually love using my Miata for towing them. Easily can see the whole trailer - and while the short wheelbase makes the trailers even more touchy to maneuver in reverse, I can easily turn around in a driveway with it.

Now if you are saying he can't back it up because he is using a lifted Jeep that is also incorrect. I can back up my utility trailer as easily with my Jeep as my truck , his problem besides no backing skills is he needs a pole or flag on the rear of the trailer so he knows where it's at since he can't see it .

That 1st Jeep Driver puts the "OOOOOO" in "PROOOOOFESSIONAL", LOL! Him being unable to see any of the trailer until it gets out of position is one of the problems. I used to work at a Coal Mine loading 120 ton Haulers and the Hardest thing to get across to the Drivers was to get their truck and trailer straight in line before they started backing and to make SMALL Corrections, don't go steering lock to steering lock. If it gets out too far, pull forward until it's straight and go to backing again.

My wife is really good at backing a trailer, but will usually have me on speaker in the boat in case situations change or she needs some guidance on the fly. Also for backing, I taught her to play whack-a-mole with the trailer in the mirrors. If you are trying to back straight and you see the trailer in the left mirror, turn to the left a bit until it is in the right one..... then turn right a bit. It worked for me when learning and she is doing great using that method.

I was very impressed with how reserved they were, I would have been SO frustrated. That was some agonising watching, but like everybody has said, it's good they were there when it was quiet so they could spend the time (and space) trying to figure it out. Gotta learn somewhere!

For sure that’s a really nice Jeep to just let a stranger back it down.

Sister probably. She borrowed it from him and he wanted it back in the same shape as he loaned it out to them.

Install a couple of flag poles on the trailer for purposes of backing up, and take them off during transport. You are....... welcome.

Hey Barbie, forget rerun, I’ll join you and I’ll back up the trailer just fine. Reminds me of a time I aided someone moving in his daughter for college who couldn’t back in his Uhaul tandem axle trailer into a J shaped driveway, I asked, need some help, and seconds later it was turned parked & angled toward the back door of the house.

Like you said there was no urgency for them since the ramp was empty, however I would like to add and you would think it was common sense, if someone buys a boat or jetski for the first time they need to spend some time in an empty parking lot practicing backing up a trailer. It can make for a much better day at the boatramp for everyone.
