How to jump start a Range Rover.
How to jump start a Land Rover.
In this video I show you how to jump start a modern Land Rover Range Rover that has a flat battery.
If you climb into your Range Rover and press the Engine Start button and it doesn’t start or you just here a feint clicking sound from the engine then you have a dead battery.
Now you need to find a Donor car to jump start your Range Rover from. Start the Donor car and connect the cables from the donor car battery to the terminals shown in this Video.
Make sure your Range Rover is in Park mode if it is an Automatic or if it’s a manual gearbox make sure it is in neutral and the handbrake is on, then try and jump start your Range Rover.
If your Land Rover Range Rover starts then disconnect the jump cables and then let it run or go for a drive for at least 10 minutes to give it a good charge.
A Range Rover jump start from an emergency power pack is not usually a good idea as it can damage the electrics so try to avoid this scenario if you can. Best off jump starting the Range Rover or putting the battery on a slow trickle charge car battery charger.
You need to figure out why the battery was dead, did you leave the lights on or is it that the battery is old and won’t hold a charge. In this case you will need a new Range Rover battery replacement.
Order of Connections: Negative Donor [-] to Range Rover Negative [-]. Positive Donor [+] to Range Rover Positive [+]. Try to start Range Rover.
Remove the jump start cables in the exact reverse order you connected them (whilst Range Rover is still running).
To disconnect once running then : Remove Range Rover Positive [+], remove Positive Donor [+], remove Range Rover Negative [-], remove Negative Donor [-].

looking for some advice on MY 2016 range rover evoque...battery was dead so I connected my NOCO 5 charger and recharged the battery. Turn on the ignition, car starts, all electrical systems are operating, except for my DASHBOARD Display - no fuel level guage, no engine temp, etc. What should I do?? YOUR HOW TO GUIDES ARE VERY GOOD!

Unfortunately sometimes when batteries die it can ruin electronics. Hopefully it’s just a fuse so check those first. If not then try an OBD2 reader to see if you can show any faults. Good luck

Not sure on that particular model, in an ideal world you would disconnect the battery to charge it but then you lose settings. It should be ok.

You need to connect and disconnect in a specific order, check AA website for guide, too much to write here!

I was wondering the same thing. ? Someone asked me for a jump and I didn't know how ..and what is AA? I have a 2014evoque do I apply the same method to give a jump or must I use the trunk battery?

Hi buddy i have error messege gearbox not in park and low battery error messege vehicle been parked up for 5 months, do you reckon if i try this it will fix the problem and will battery need changing after thank you.

Cars and batteries do not like sitting around doing nothing. You can try a jump start then let it run and charge, or maybe just try charging the battery. If the battery is poor it may not hold a charge and that will cause problems. Good luck.

Oh dear, that's not good. Not sure I'm afraid. Hopefully it's an electronic issue and not a gearbox issue, hope you can get it sorted and it doesn't cost too much.
