Hello my name is David and I show you to jump.
Your first jumps will be the final step in your beginner journey in wingfoiling. They require good control of both the foil and the wing.
The most important part to a jump is entry speed. Tack normally to gain speed and when you are ready to jump, bend your knees, carve the foil a little bit upwind at the same time as pointing the wing upwards and pulling in on the back hand to generate lift. Extend your legs like a jump, until your foil exits the water and then pull your legs in towards your body. On the landing, try to move the wing above your head to catch you on your descent and bend your front leg a little more than your back leg to try to get the foil to re-enter the water with the tail wing first. This should soften the landing and lessen your chances of damaging the gear from the impact. Large beginner boards are not ideally suited for jumping but as you progress in wingfoiling you will move to smaller and smaller gear that is suited to jumping and doing tricks.
Keep practicing because the fundamentals will transfer to any gear that you use.
