Thank you for the tips Scotty, I had previously thought my AC compressor was broken for several years when I finally discovered that it was in fact one of the fans (the smaller one that blows against the condenser). I ended up purchasing both fans and the assembly online for a fraction of the price (of the dealer) and installed it myself. The AC works now and blows cold air. 2008 VW Jetta GLI, 208k mi.

Just keep in mind that European cars mostly come with variable displacement compressors and TXVs, and they now come with another different kind of refrigerant known as R1234yf, and you're set. AC systems work the same way all around the world.

Allanisbest not true...mythbusters busted that myth a while ago. AC uses a lot of power because the compressor takes up to 5 horse power to operate, making it less efficient to use than rolling the windows down

Tips to cool the car off quick. 1- open the windows and drive around a bit it will circulate all the hot out. 2- close the windows and turn your dial to AC let the car get nice and cold 3- once cold turn the dial too the air recirculation feature it will recirculate the air in the cabin so the AC compressor isn’t always running saving you on gas. 4 - turn the cold dial all the way to cold that way you can set the blower fan on low and still be nice and cold. This trick works nice with the air recirculation feature but won’t entirely freeze you out Those are my tips

Is it fuses or something else? .... My car is a Peugeot 106 - early 90's model (pretty basic car). Thanx - & I Love your Vids, Awesome.

@crpth1
@crpth1 6 жыл бұрын
Andrey Ivanov - Peugeot 106 has a very basic foam filter that can be cleaned/washed and put back into service. If leaves are being blown into the cabin most probably it's not there at all. Very bad idea 'cause usually leads to a scraped blower motor. Plus the obvious discomfort of having leaves being blown in your face. ;-) Further more, clogged ventilation grill/ducts also lead in most cases to a burned resistance...When the lower speeds of the ventilation don't work. only full blast. All in all it's totally worth to spend the 15 minutes it takes to do some maintenance. ;-)

okay,i guess its time to switch back to normal one since the dealer give me the carbon one,and the ac is not that cold on my car. and what is the benefit of carbon filter anyway sir ? and how about ac compressor oil ? sorry,if i ask too much

The filter would only fuck with how hard the air blows has nothing to do with the temp. Oil and additives are bullshit unless your system is leaking. The AC compressor and other components wear out just like any other part of your car and need to be serviced or replaced.

Got a recommendation for those dual fans. My car was overheating all the time at a stoplight when you have a low idle the compressor seems to work overtime and heats up really fast and overheats the radiator and the engine overheats. I always noticed that there was only one fan going and the other one kept going on and off so what I did was disconnected the connectors to both fans hook them up together in series and connected them directly to the ignition 12 volts. That way they're running all the time at half speed. This kept the radiator much cooler. You can even disconnect them in the winter time but don't forget to reconnect them in warm weather. No more overheating problems.

I was looking for this! My AC runs Ice Cold Yet when I'm at a stoplight it starts blowing warm and as you said then my engine heat temperature rises. I appreciate the idea thank you!

Wowow, thanks Scotty! As soon as you pulled out that air cabin filter, I paused and went out to my car to check mine. It was CLOGGED FULL of crap! Knocked it all out, vacuumed it and my AC is FRIGID now thanks to you! Three cheers for sharing common sense! The whole fam thanks you, our weekly 550km drives are gonna be SO much more pleasant now that the 38°c weather is OUTSIDE the car, not in it!
