How do you make sure the brick is square and not tipping back or forward?

Stand face on to the wall instead of side on and you can eye you’re perps down easily. I don’t understand why but lots of bricklayers struggle to lay face on

Why don't you also video cleaning the snots off the back of the wall every course? Also the perp joints won't be out of line on a bit of a brick panel like that !!!! Bricks vary in length sometimes so the labourer should get the bricks out of several packs! And yes I am a brickie

Question from an absolute amateur - how much pressure are you putting on to get your brick down? I find my mortar is either nice and creamy, but needs tapping down - or just too wet and sloppy, I can never get that point quite in between? My bed doesn't look much more than yours, and I don't think I take out any more - so either I'm too weak, or my mix sucks!
