This is such a great tutorial for beginners! I've come through a lot of other videos and got really overwhelmed with the pace and lack of clarity but you explain everything so slowly and precisely that I got it the first try! Thank you so much, you're an amazing teacher! ❤

Agreed. Even if they didn't agree with all of the techniques shown (or whatever), someone went out of their way (in many cases) to design something nice and take the time to share it with us. If they don't appreciate that, they should just move on.

Me and my sister learned how to knit when we were children-(about 10-11 years old-our cousin taught us how.) The only thing is that we don't do continental knitting, but English style. We've gotten away from knitting for MANY YEARS, but in 2018, we picked it back up which was truly amazing in how we actually STILL remembered how to knit! Our goal was to make scarves and shawls, and to this day now, our goals were achieved! I now have a few shawls that I have made, and am working on quite a few now! This has been such a blessing to be knitting!

Crochet, I can help you with. Ive been crocheting since I was 10 years old. Knitting is much harder to do. I brought Ashleigh new yarns and i plan to make the fantasy, neighbors hood, and air force one (actually people move), i'm calling it air force one because my niece is in the air force and it's all the air force colorways.

I watched so many videos and i tried following it but I never got em right. Nobody actually cared to explain that every row has to start with just slipping off the first stitch and we need not do the 'yarn around thing' . So Thank you. So sooo much for explaining it. You did it perfectly well. Thank you. Really ❤️

I first learned knitting many years ago (my mother taught me basic knitting when I was still a child); but somehow had trouble with crocheting. I used to often drop stitches on the ends of my projects, because with crochet the edges were sort of "rounded off" (maybe I forgot to "chain up" for the next row?); and it was hard to tell where the rows began and ended--whereas with knitting, all of the stitches are right there on the needle, easily countable and not-so-easily lost (well, unless they accidentally slip off the tip, which is aggravating; but I digress). But now as an adult, I recognize that crocheting is *Sooooo* Much Faster!! Plus only working with the one short(er) needle (and just one, or a few stitches at a time), crocheted projects are much easier to shape (for non-rectangular designs); and for larger projects such as afghans. In my experience, the only real advantage knitting has over crochet is that the resulting fabric is more elastic, with a tighter "weave" that is more difficult to obtain with crochet. My mother's favorite project was a chevron-patterned afghan that she used to crochet as gifts for friends and family. I'm here because I want to get back into both knitting and crocheting; and hopefully get past the long-standing "roadblocks" (like misshapen purl stitches) that have been holding me back from completing all but the simplest designed projects.

I have recently learned how to knit and I have tried a couple of different ways and there is a titular video that says "continental knitting is for crocheters", you could get a lot of good help there. Also learn how to English purl for those vast rows where you have to purl all the way back over. There is also one video I found that shows how to "reverse knit", which is a good imitation of a purl, that according to master knitter Roxanne on let's purl together channel, whose video it is, "it does not replace a true purl where a purl is called for in particular pattern designs but it will do well for those vast spanses that called for you to purl". In case you're wondering why I'm picking on the purl... purling is knitting the back side of a knit stitch from the front so that it looks like the back. Purl is the back side of a knit stitch, only you're doing it from the front facing it on the back side of your work because you have knit down one stick and now you have to do the other side. Many basic just the Norwegian purl but it's a lot of winding around and it's hard to do and you can loose your tension and have wonky spaces between your stitches that change. Believe me it is possible to learn how to purl stitch incontinental style by employing your thumb rather than your middle finger the way most people will show, I have seen Russian women do it while crocheting cotton and all in a traditional way instead of the Russian way which changes the orientation of your stitches to Eastern instead of Western. I have found that if I Russian purl I also have to do the Russian "grandma way" of knitting on the back side of my needles - which is not a problem. Just different than the typical way anyone in North America would teach. If you do regular continental knit stitch the right leg of the loop is always in front of the stick/needle which is Western: If you do Russian purl, it changes the orientation and puts the left leg forward, which is Eastern... which is why you have to do the knit stitch on the back of your needles. This is the easiest kind of knitting in the world! The way you do each stitch Enters the right hand side of the loop and is mirrored by the way you do the opposite stitch and the coolest thing about it is when you do whichever stitch it rotates the orientation from east to west And so it's always the way it should be. This probably changes if you're doing a rib stitch but with whichever orientation you are working on in your following row you always must work whatever type of stitch according to the orientation that it is in at the moment in the way it was work before you can switch from Eastern to Western as long as you always remember that. And none of this may make sense if you've never done any of the things that I've described here but you will understand it if you do.

I've noticed that a lot of people pull their yarn from the center of the skein. I actually tried that once before but it didn't work for me because it got tangled so I just pull it from the outside of the skein rather than from the inside. Too me, it doesn't really matter where you pull it from, it just depends on what's easier for you.

I have started this project many times over and endeavoring to make myself stitch not so tight. I'm getting there. Now I am wondering, while going over the pattern. When I knit one do I loop over or do I loop under like you do, or does it make a difference? Thanks so much for all the patterns. I have made the slouchy beanie with puff stitch and it was very fun project. Thanks again!
