Hi guys! This video will show you how to knit with a method that's great for those of you who crochet! I use the continental method where you will hold your yarn similarly to how you hold it when you crochet. I will show you each step so you can get started knitting! Thanks so much!!

I'm an avid crocheter (mostly amigurumi and some wearables) but I love the way knitting looks! I've tried it a few times and have the basic stitches down, but it's so excruciatingly slow and easy to make a mistake. I think this will be really helpful! Now I need to learn how to troubleshoot knitting mistakes...it's so much easier to take out one crochet stitch or a row of stitches compared to knitting!

My 10 year old daughter decided to teach herself how to knit🤷‍♀️ (nobody in my immediate or extended family does) so I bought her some needles and this seems to be the easiest but most clear set of instructions to follow. I much appreciate this video. Thank you so very much. 😍

this is so cute 💌 i started being interested in knitting when i was 10 years old too. my grandma and my bought me a lot of needles so i could choose which one is the best for me. now i'm 17 and i started again. i forgot it a little so i was not very determined at very first. you made me remember about my grandma that passed away recently. now i'm more determined to knit better. i hope your daughter never loses her interest. thank you, respectfully ❤️‍🩹

I learned to crochet first. My great-grandmother--Nana--taught me when I was around 8 or 9. I crocheted off and on for years until I learned to knit at the age of 11 or 12 at a library class. The way that I knit is just like you described! I thought that I had made something up because I was doing it differently than the other people I saw and the books I read. It wasn't until recently that I was told that I was knitting in a way that was "okay". The lady called it the German style.

tried knitting when I was a child but ended up preferring crochet, guess what? I am sixty and have tried knitting English style as I was taught, but didn't enjoy it so decided to watch your videos and yay I love the way you knit and purl continental style and am enjoying it immensely; I am starting to get a bit faster and my tension is good, so thank you from the bottom of my heart for your very clear instructions.

This is the absolute BEST video to learn knit stitch I've tried. After giving up on how the 'toss your yarn over' knitting style, because it ALWAYS looked messy to me, this works! I can crochet most anything, with any size hook, and Tunisian is a breeze, but really wanted to learn to knit. Now I am off to try your triangle start...woo-hoo!!

Jessica, what a great idea. I’m trying to learn to knit (I’m a crocheter as well) and find continental makes more sense for us crocheters too. I think it may be because we are used to touching the yarn more than not. The other way seems like so much extra work. I can’t wait to try your way. Thanks for posting this video!😊

I sort of taught myself how to knit, using one of those knitting for beginner books (I've been crocheting for decades). I do use the continental style of knitting, because that's what I'm used to for crocheting. I also know Tunisian Crochet. I know how to cast on, I know how to do the knit stitch, and how to do the purl stitch, but I have developed a peculiar tension problem that NO KNITTER( and I have asked quite a few that have been knitting for years!) has been able to figure out, or help me fix. I'm hoping maybe you can, since you are a crocheter that also knits. What I have noticed, as I'm knitting along, is the length of yarn BETWEEN each stitch gets longer and longer. I try to tighten my stitches to compensate, but it doesn't really work. By the time I get to the last stitch in my row, the last loop on my needle is somewhere between double to triple the size of the other loops of the previous stitches. For the life of me (and every other knitter I've met), I can't figure out how, or why this happens. Do you have any ideas? If I need to, I can make a video of my knitting attempts, for you to watch, once I figure out how to upload to KZfaq! And thanks for any assistance you can give me!

Oh dear, I give up. They made us do knitting in 3rd grade elementary school and I could never get it. Needless to say I hated it. Now, over 30 years later I thought "Maybe I should give it another try. It's a good skill to have", but nope, haha, I'm out. I will never get this and have no interest in it. The loom is better for me. Good video though.

And then when it got to the second needle, the yarn kept coming off of mine and I couldn’t figure out why because your video didn’t explain what you were doing 😭 I know this is a 7 year old video, but it honestly frustrated me so much I want to give up on ever learning to knit
