In this video we will show you how to increase stitches in your knitting.

In your written instructions you say "insert the right needle through the horizontal bar" but in the video she inserted the left needle.

Someone already picked up on this but the instructions in step 2 are incorrect according to the video. It's nice that your use big needles and big yarn it's really easy to see what you're doing.

Oh my god thank you that was so much easier than it was made out to be in my book! Your instruction on what needle to insert was a little off as it said right but you inserted the left, but watching it cleared it up

In fact there are many ways to increase a stitch in knitting; this is a good all-purpose way to do it. Your pattern should specify which way you’re supposed to increase. This would be ‘M1’ in a pattern.

The text for step 2 says insert right needle from front to back, but the video shows the left needle being inserted.

I'm a little confused, is this a different way to increase as I seen another video where you knit on a knit row, knit first into the front of the stitch normally, then, before slipping it off the needle, knit again into the back of the same stitch. So surely this Inc is M1

Great visuals - thanks! You might want to correct step 2. which says to insert Right Needle into strand between stitches, but the video shows you inserting Left Needle into this strand. 😂

Great demonstration. I do want to point out that your step 2 text instruction after finding the horizontal bar said to insert the RIGHT needle under it from front to back, but you actually inserted the LEFT needle. Then the step 3 needle (correctly this time) says insert the RIGHT needle again.

No, it won’t make a hole. It will just give you an extra stitch.

This is exactly how I do the increase stitch but it still makes a little hole in the piece. Is that because I'm using smaller yarn (#4)?

In your pattern it will probably say to increase. For example, knit 20, increase, pearl 20. It might be shortened to inc

yikes, you have the right and left needles mixed up in your written explanation. Maybe it would help us beginners if you change your text? Your hands are correct, but the written explanation is very confusing. Plus no sound to help. I appreciate your clarity in the actual knitting, but I had to go to another site to confirm what I was doing.

No sound? The cut away from the demonstration to show the instructions breaks the viewer visual contact. The viewer has to visually reconnect with the last image shown time after time using her memory. This is an unnecessary burden on the viewer.
