How to Knit Simple Crescent Shawl. In the video I demonstrate how to start the shawl, how to work the increase, and then I mistakenly thought the final bit of instructions wouldn't be any trouble. Boy was I wrong, and I am woman enough to admit that!
SOOOO, I am letting you know that since this video release I've done a Part 2 of the video to show how to do the eyelet row :-) Find that at: How to Knit Simple Crescent Shawl [Part 2] Two Yarn Over Eyelet Row • How to Knit Simple Cre...
I'm sorry I didn't do them in this video. But you live and learn! And now you have another video to help you finish off the Knit Simple Crescent Shawl perfectly. Thank you for being patient with me!

Oh my goodness! I can’t believe I can do this! WooHoo! I learned how to knit about a year ago but only knit and purl. I was so afraid to do something different. You, Marley Byrd, are an amazing teacher. Thank you so much for making this easy.

This is the best that I've seen a kfb stitch taught! You show it clearly and precisely, and slow enough for people to actually knit along with you. The yarn over, and use of markers is shown really well also. Great video! 😉

Thanks so much for showing us. Love them. Your are great as a instructor. The Hop Scotch feels nice as well. Now I can start my favorite shape of shawls and this will be my first. All the snobs with the big cup of tea and the cat and the dog knit such a shawl with a lace finish at the end - but they did not tell us the secret - I want to thank you for sharing the secret with us - actually you are the first one of showing us the shape of half-moon knitting.- I've been waiting for it for so long - especially those who do not speak English as a native language -To others it seems trivial - but when there is a good explanation all the problems of understanding are solved - thank you very much from the bottom of my heart

I'm knitting this shawl from the instructions on the band ball. They suggest that the first stitch of every row be knit, slipped back to the left needle, and knit again. In other words, knit the first stitch of each row twice. I checked out the instructions online and Red Heart does include this step in their instructions under NOTES. I like the extra stretch this gives the edge of the shawl now that I've knitted about 6 inches worth of fabric. Would you consider suggesting this extra step? And I agree -- this shawl pattern and yarn is awesome!

Love this pattern! I have a question for you: would fingering type yarn work with this?
@kyleyee5963
@kyleyee5963 3 жыл бұрын
I know any yarn would work. You will simply need to adjust needle size and you would have to perhaps add more rows. Some lightweight yarns still hold up well on larger than called fir needles. I have tried sock weight on number US#7 but I prefer a tighter fabric so I went down to 6, 5,4 and have made several. I added more rows to make the shawl is he length I like. They really can keep your neck and shoulders warm.

Hi everyone, I found one method of the 2yo on KZfaq by entering "knit double yarn over." Row 1: follow instructions as written. Row 2: K1 into first yo (carefully holding second yo on left needle), then bring yarn to front and P1 (the second yo). Follow rest of pattern as written. Other than this "eyelet" explanation, the pattern/video was easy to follow. Hope this helps!

@velmajacobson8858

Hi June, I asked a Ravelry member that had made the shawl and she kindly responded. "On the second to the last row, you will be doing double yo's meaning wrapping the yarn twice around the needle for your yo, instead of the usual once. Then, on the next row, you will knit just one stitch thorough the double yarn over and just pull both wraps off your left needle. After you knit the stitches, you can give the piece a little tug and you will see that you have made nice big eyelets along the edge of your shawl." I haven't tried this yet but hope it helps you. Let me know !!
