The piece on the mannequin in the background is Each to Each: www.ravelry.com...
It is a crescent shaped shawl that uses the same increase pattern as being demonstrated in this video.
***
The yarn I was knitting with is Sprout DK from The Fiber Seed. You can see their beautiful yarn here: www.thefiberse...
I did make the bind off video you can see it here: • How to Knit the Expand...
The written instructions for this shawl are:
Cast on 7 sts.
Row 1: k2, kYOk, k1, kYOk, k2. (inc 4 sts) On all following occurrences of Row 1 replace k1 with knit to last 3 sts.
Row 2: s1-wyif, k1, YO, knit to last 2 sts, YO, k1, s1-wyif. (inc 2 sts)
Row 3: k2, kYOk, knit to last 3 sts, kYOk, k2. (inc 4 sts)
Row 4: s1-wyif, k1, YO, knit to last 2 sts, YO, k1, s1-wyif. (inc 2 sts)
Row 5: k2, kYOk, knit to last 3 sts, kYOk, k2. (inc 4 sts)
Row 6: sl-wyif, k1, YO, *k1, p1; repeat from * to last 3 sts, k1, YO, k1, s1-wyif. (inc 2 sts)
Repeat Rows 1 - 6 until the shawl is desired size. Bind off using a stretchy method. Block assertively to crescent shape.

I appreciate how you casually said, I'm a continental knitter, and got straight to work. I crochet and have had the hardest time trying to find continental knitting tutorials so far.
@WatchBarbaraKnit
@WatchBarbaraKnit 3 жыл бұрын
I learned to crochet when I was young so when I learned to knit as an adult continental was the most comfortable option for me. You should see some of the videos where I try to show stitches with right and left hand ... hilarious. All of my videos will have continental in them, right hand occasionally. Hmm, maybe I should add continental knitting to my tags?

Thank you so much for this! I’m a beginner knitter who’s had enough of making practice swatches. I wanted to actually make something and this is the perfect project. Lots of knits with just enough purls and some basic decorative increases. Hi Guys! I have created a pattern page on Ravelry so that you have something to link project pages to. There is also a PDF "cheat sheet" for a nominal fee if you feel you need something other than what is in the description. :) www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/easy-crescent-shaped-shawl If you cannot find the description please note that it elaborates on Row 1 which reads: Row 1: k2, kYOk, k1, kYOk, k2. (inc 4 sts) On all following occurrences of Row 1 replace "k1" with "knit to last 3 sts". Essentially in the repeats Rows 1 & 3 are the same!

Thank you for this pattern. I like the fact that this started with straight across stitches instead of the CO 3sts, turn 90deg...turn 90deg. I'd usually get frustrated thinking "why not start this with the intended number of stitches?" Now Barbara shows me the possibilities.

Garter tab is usually used to make sure that the selvedge is identical all the way across the top as opposed to having that little blank spot between the eyelet edging. I find that I don't mind the little space as much as I am annoyed by garter tabs LOL.

I am constantly trying to improve my videos and this one is almost four years old LOL! My main concern, from feedback from viewers with visual disabilities, is that there is high contrast between the needles and the yarn. It has taken some time to find the right balance and I'm still working on it. I do tend to use medium toned yarns in newer videos. But red is a problem for my camera LOL - it just doesn't like to film it.

Of course you can. And if you make errors you can simply pull the yarn out and try again - it's just yarn!

Wow it's beautiful I wanted to make a full sized one how many inches should I knit for that your tutorial was awesome 👍
@WatchBarbaraKnit

It is totally going to depend on your yarn and needles - just knit until it is as big as you want it to be! You should be able to get a small shawl from a single, 400 yard skein of fingering weight. If you do sport/dk you will probably need 2 skeins. In worsted you might need 3 or 4 and even more for bulky.
