We are fortunate to have lived during Rabbi Sacks (ZY'A)'s time .. his massive presence in our lives has been amazing, and his passing has created a huge loss .. we are a poorer world without him ..

Such a tragic loss for the world. His words and message reach beyond faith barriers and he was an inspiration to all.

Rabbi Lord Sacks represents a big intelligence of our time!

Thank You, Hakadosh Baruch Hu, who gave us, the mankind, the opportunity to hear and be inspired by the amazing teachings of Rabbi Sacks. I find absolutely respectful and grateful the fact that in every single lecture he gave he always mentioned the name of his wife, Elaine. Rabbi Sacks inspired me to do Tshuva and return to the path of Torah. This great man changed my life and, I'm sure, many lives around the world. Blessed be his memory in the world! Our Rabbi Lord Sacks introduced me to Judaism long before I grasped the importance of his doing so. Listening to his works now, I wonder: who is my next Rabbi Sacks?

In my little, small we family of 6 persons he, the former Great Rabbi Jonathan Sacks died on the 31 fst birthday of my son. My son who gave this house in France to us, me and my other 2 children. This act was all inspired by an immense Jewish love I encountered in 2005 in Belgium. And now, on the 8 of november2020, in the midst of this historic pandemic and on the day of a shift of power in USA I express my utmost respect and admiration to the Great Chief Rabbi Jonathan Sacks. What a privilage it was to have been living during his lifetime and what a sorrow it is to have lost a man who brought light into dark times. ✨✡️✨

A great man of clarity, brilliance and love for all of creation; he was indeed a living sanctification of G-d's Name. May his soul be at peace and continually ascend higher and higher until the resurrection of the dead.

Another wonderful lecture by rabbi Jonathan Sacks. He was a wonderful communicator and Orator and is deeply missed. In this lecture he talks of happiness and how to attain this. We live in a community,a society and we have busy lives. Do we stop to think of the other. or we are just for ourselves. Rabbi Jonathan Sacks gives examples of the ways one can change. Listening to this on Mar 19, 2021 - exactly 1 year after he delivered this. Heartbreaking the brilliance, excellence, goodness, chassidut we lost. Did he sense the coming tsunami? (I think he did - in another talk on KZfaq he gave in late 2019 or early 2020, he talked about the particular growth pattern of antisemitism in the UK and how it "must not spread to the US" or some similar phrase.) What would he have said about the Capitol riot? Qanon? Antimaskers? The huge increase in firearmed racism? If he has disciples, please may they come forward and pick up his trail before we lose sight of it! Or ... did G-D take him away from us for a reason? Very frightening to think about ...

Buying more than one needs in the supermarket leaves others without in these trying times. Rabbi Jonathan Sacks was a wonderful communicator and an inspiration to the World. Through his lectures books and podcasts. he. describes the how and why of Jews and Judaism and being together as a family on Shabbat or in communal prayer brings. happiness to the World. We live in a society ,a community. and share with others. One is important but a wave or smile to the other creates. Joy in the world

An inspiring talk and great 'food for thought', specially in these uncertain and troubling times where the importance of 'WE' beyond 'I' matters more than ever & can make a real difference....And where isolation is an everyday struggle in a world of limited social contact. Rabbi Jonathan Sacks is a lovely lecturer. His healthy society theory proposes that the social, economic and digital revolutions of the 60’s, 80’s and new Millenium have decoupled individuals from families, politics from policies, and self from society. He observes that we now worship the “selfie”, denigrating “we” and elevating “I”, ultimately encouraging loneliness and risk aversion. Lord Sacks eschews banning or cancelling people who disagree with us. Being respectful to those with divergent positions and taking risks is foundational to dialogue and progress.

Wonderful man. Would have loved to have heard a conversation between Jonathan Sacks and Jordan Peterson.

He is so brilliant--but why such a small audience? I am shocked! Where did this take place?

The questions in audience were perceptive and they show up the weaknesses in the speaker's argument. On one side there are people who want to preserve the white-only story of America, the male-only story...on the other we have people who want to open things up to all the people of America and, in fact, there is a great deal of weariness about being in one country vs another at all...we are the people of the Earth and our collective stories belong to all of us. We are flirting with a sea change where global citizenship is the only 'we' worth wanting any more.

ne more comment, I really like what you said about "safe space" at universities - I have taught at three major universities and now at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, and I've always said true liberalism is the ability to discuss different views and even seek out different views with tolerance and intellectual honesty. With that, I expect you can respect my different view about President Trump.

One of the reasons of reduced life expectancy in poor is delayed effect of smoking. Smoking rates peaked around 1973. Quite possibly a larger cause than loneliness (which is also an important cause).

concerning loneliness 9:14 I think a better front cover image would be 4 Jonathan Sacks in a huddle formation. I'm not sure if he is orthodox enough to be running around following the 'men / women no touching' rabbinical tradition. However, either way the huddle formation is still better for 4 is less lonely than 1.

It is easy for the man who is the chief Rabbi of a country, Britian, to lead a good life but there is only one position available and of course you have to tell people what they want to hear a lot of times.

I really love Rabbi Sacks but his take on competition is not correct. People compete for customers. To have a customer means that someone wants you to cooperate with them. I can excuse rabbi’s confusion on this matter because his thought pattern is prevalent in todays culture…but it just isnt true.

Is he arguing here that we should lend an ear to racists and conspiracy theorist in our universities? Certainly we should only listen to those who can be consistent and coherent.
